The nature of the mind does not arise, which is the meaning of the light of wisdom;\] \[Commentary:\] Revealing virtues by contrasting them with defilement. In this there are two parts: first, explaining the contrast with defilement to distinctly reveal the virtuous attributes; later, generally contrasting with defilement to reveal the possession of all virtues. The first part, revealing the six kinds of virtuous meanings mentioned earlier, is divided into six. This is the first, the meaning of the light of wisdom of original awakening. One opinion holds: this is spoken with respect to the karmic characteristic of avidyā, because there is the thought of non-awakening of the deluded mind. Another opinion holds: it is spoken generally with respect to the nine kinds of defiled characteristics, because falsely giving rise to thoughts perceives various objects, whereas karmic consciousness does not yet perceive various objects.
