> \[Treatise:\] If the mind has arising, \[there is further seeing of external objects, and there is that which is lacking. In this way, the innumerable pure dharmas of the nature of the mind are completely free from arising, which is called being fully satisfied; it is called the dharmakāya, and also called\] the tathāgatagarbha. \[Commentary:\] This is the third part, concluding the virtues and explaining the names. In the text are three clauses. "If the mind has arising..." and so forth is the first: having thought means lacking. If the mind further gives rise to external thoughts to seek \[something\], that is insufficiency and therefore there is a lack. Thus the new translation states: "If the mind has arising of seeing, and there are remaining objects to be conceptually discriminated and sought, then there is an insufficiency regarding internal dharmas." "In this way, the pure dharmas..." and below attains satisfaction without thought: because within the nature of the mind pure dharmas are fully satisfied and there is nothing further to seek, it says "free from thought". Because it is free from thought, it is purely satisfied. From here downward the new translation's sense is the same and is not cited. "Called the dharmakāya..." and so forth establishes the names based on virtue. Because the virtuous dharmas are full, it is the pure dharma; being the reliance, it is called the dharmakāya; being able to subsume the pure virtues of the Tathāgata, it is called the tathāgatagarbha.
