> The treatise says: "Third, faith in the Dharma… pāramitās." The commentary says: Because the Buddha is accomplished in reliance on the Dharma, it is explained next. The Dharma has four kinds: teaching, principle, practice, and fruit. Here it directly reveals faith in the practice-Dharma. Because by relying on supreme practice one attains the fruit of Buddhahood, and by relying on the teaching one awakens to the principle so that practice is then accomplished, if there is the practice-Dharma, the other three are possessed. Furthermore, the preceding two have already had faith in the principle and the fruit; having faith in the principle and fruit already constitutes faith in the teaching. Therefore, herein one only has faith in the practice-Dharma. "Having great benefit" reveals the virtue that is the object of faith. Benefit has four kinds: first, the benefit of moistening, because cultivating the six perfections moistens \[and overcomes\] the six faults; second, the benefit of accomplishment, because the fruit of bodhi is accomplished conditioned by this; third, the benefit of gathering, because benefiting oneself and benefiting others is free from the lesser fruit; fourth, inexhaustible benefit, because manifesting the eight aspects is forever inexhaustible. "Constantly delighting…" and so on is the aspect of generating aspiration. Having faith that there is benefit, one constantly delights in cultivating it.
