> The treatise says: "How does one cultivate \[vigor\]?" up to "speedily escaping all sufferings."
> The commentary says: Here are also shown the three kinds of vigor. "Regarding the Dharma..." refers to armor-like vigor. Just as in the mundane world one puts on armor and does not retreat from battle, by this one can give rise to great compassion and wisdom, being firm without fear or cowardice, and strong without weakness. From "One should reflect..." onward refers to the vigor of gathering wholesome \[dharmas\]. Because one reflects on the vain suffering of the past as profitless, one can vigorously gather wholesome dharmas. "Benefiting oneself..." refers to the vigor that benefits and gladdens. Because one observes one's own suffering and that the suffering of others is the same, one vigorously exerts oneself to speedily escape suffering.
