> Then Maitreya Bodhisattva-mahāsattva arose from his seat, adjusted his robes, bared his right shoulder, knelt with his right knee on the ground, stepped forward, and addressed the Buddha, saying, "How wonderful, Bhagavat! The worlds are manifold, and sentient beings are not the same; their good and evil actions and retributions are each distinct. When the Tathāgata speaks the Dharma of emptiness and quiescence, what samādhi does he enter that is inconceivable? His majestic supernatural power is stirring and moving, so difficult to fathom! Sentient beings with consciousness can all be easily transformed, but when mountains, rivers, rock walls, and the growing trees, grasses, and shrubs all transform into human forms, are they sentient beings with consciousness or without consciousness?"
