> "A bodhisattva-mahāsattva, using emptiness to extinguish conception, has no reception regarding form; regarding sentient beings equally, he perceives no difference or hierarchy; in a secluded and tranquil place, he contemplates and focuses mindfulness; he perceives neither created form nor non-created form; and leaning single-mindedly toward the ultimate, he heads toward the gate of nirvāṇa—this is called having an end. Mindful of the impermanence of the body, with giving, morality, and concentrated attention, he does not fear falling into or drowning in saṃsāra; though dwelling in saṃsāra, he is like a bird flying through the sky whose form and shadow are unseen; knowing all to be non-existent, he is said to be like a heap of ashes where fire has been extinguished, bearing no warmth; seeking the substantial owner of the fire, there is no person, no self, no longevity, and no life; examining and distinguishing by whom it was produced, consciousness too is without consciousness; investigating the eighteen realms and sensory entrances, they have no foundation; the hundred and eight cravings and attachments are entirely non-existent; completely penetrating going and coming, he does not see what cannot be seen; what cannot be protected and maintained, he does not see any who maintain it. What is called maintaining? Maintaining that which has nothing to maintain—this is called inexhaustible."
