In the early, middle, and late night we have not cultivated meditation or recitation, but have been indolent and lazy, lying like corpses all day long, not directing our minds to the six bases of mindfulness; seeing the triumphs of others we have given rise to jealousy, harbouring bitterness and malice, fully giving rise to afflictions, causing the fierce wind of evils to blow upon the firewood of evils, blazing without rest. The slight good of our three karmas has all been consumed together; the good dharmas being exhausted, we have become icchantikas, falling into the fiery hells with no time of release. Therefore, we disciples, today with utmost sincerity bow our heads before all the Buddhas and assemblies of nobles in the ten directions, performing kṣamā for all the sins accumulated as recounted above.
