That Buddha Human Sovereign Sound will abide in the world with a lifespan of seven hundred million kalpas. At the first assembly, a sangha of three hundred million śrāvakas will gather, and an assembly of eighty nayuta tens of millions of bodhisattvas will gather; they will all attain the supernormal faculties, possess the four unhindered knowledges, penetrate all emptiness, and reach the other shore. Even if I were to abide in the world for immeasurable kalpas and speak of that Buddha's great assembly and the adornment of his land, it would be [no more than] the portion of a single drop in the waters of the great ocean.

28.16
When the Buddha had spoken this Sūtra on the Names of the Buddhas, the Venerable Śāriputra, the bhikṣu Mahānāman, all the bhikṣus, bhikṣuṇīs, upāsakas, and upāsikās, devas, nāgas, yakṣas, gandharvas, asuras, garuḍas, kiṃnaras, mahoragas, humans and non-humans, as well as all the bodhisattva-mahāsattvas, rejoiced greatly, received it on their crowns, and put it into practice.
28.17
"Having paid homage to the Triratna, next perform kṣamā again.
28.18
"We disciples have already confessed the retributions of the three wretched destinies and the like; now we should again bow down with sincere earnestness to confess the residual retributions among humans and devas. We together have received this lifespan in Jambudvīpa, and though it is said to be one hundred years, few indeed complete it; in the interim, countless numbers are cut short by premature death in the prime of life. Only manifold sufferings torment body and mind; grief, sorrow, terror, and dread never cease even for a moment. Such things are all because our roots of goodness are frail while our evil karmas are exceedingly abundant, causing whatever our minds undertake in the present to fall short of our wishes. One should know that all of these are residual retributions of past evil karma. Therefore, we disciples take refuge in the Buddhas today with utmost sincerity.
28.19
"Namo Great Adornment Buddha of the eastern direction, Namo Fire of Wisdom Buddha of the southern direction, Namo Wisdom Fragrance Victor Buddha of the western direction, Namo King of Wisdom Power Buddha of the northern direction, Namo Nārāyaṇa Victorious Action Buddha of the south-eastern direction, Namo Rain of Pleasure Buddha of the south-western direction, Namo Universal Acclaim of the True Dharma Buddha of the north-western direction, Namo Practice of the Three Vehicles Buddha of the north-eastern direction, Namo Great Penetration Wisdom Victor Buddha of the nadir, Namo Abundant King of Lightning Lamps Buddha of the zenith.
28.20
"Namas to all such Triratnas throughout the ten directions and the entirety of space.
28.21
"We disciples, from beginningless time down to the present day, with regard to all immeasurable residual retributions, lingering calamities, and past retributions in the present and future among humans and devas, confess the sinful retributions of being crippled, deformed, beset by the hundred diseases, and having defective faculties; we confess the sinful retributions of evil views, the three evil destinies, and the eight difficulties in human frontier lands; we confess the sinful retributions of having many illnesses, emaciation, shortened lifespan, and premature death among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of the six relations and kin being unable constantly to protect and keep each other among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of relatives and friends perishing, and the suffering of separation from loved ones among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of encountering enemies, bringing grief, anxiety, and dread among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of the perils, fright, and terror of flood, fire, bandits, and weapons among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of being solitary, destitute, wandering adrift, scattered, and losing one's homeland among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of being locked in prison, kept in confinement, made to stand sideways, and whipped, beaten, and tortured among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of public and private disputes mutually implicating and mutually slandering one another among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of evil diseases lasting year after year and month after month without recovery, lying on mats and beds unable to rise and move about among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of winter warm-illnesses, summer pestilences, virulent plagues, and cold-damage among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of malicious wind, swelling, fullness, and obstinate blockage among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of evil spirits watching for opportune moments and seeking to bring about calamity and bewitchment among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of the cries of ominous birds, a hundred strange omens, flying corpses, and perverse ghosts causing demonic apparitions among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of being harmed by tigers, leopards, jackals, wolves, and all kinds of ferocious beasts of water and land among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of hanging oneself, stabbing oneself, committing suicide, and harming oneself among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of being grieved, lamenting, strangling oneself, flying into rage, and being excessively delighted among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of casting oneself into chasms, throwing oneself into fire, drowning, and jumping from heights among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of lacking majestic virtue and renown among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of clothing and the requisites of life failing to satisfy the heart among humans; we confess the sinful retributions of meeting with bad companions who create obstructions when going about, coming in and out, and conducting affairs among humans. All such sinful retributions of immeasurable disasters, adversities, pestilences, perils, hardships, decline, and afflictions in the present and future among humans and devas, we confess. Today, with utmost sincerity before the Buddhas of the ten directions, the venerable Dharma, and the holy assembly, we disciples lay bare our livers and expose our hearts, begging for mercy and confessing.
28.22
"May we disciples, relying on the merits produced by this confession, vow that life after life, age after age, our bodily marks may be fully complete, just like Rāhula; that we may constantly meet the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha, and ever hear the wondrous Dharma; that our lifespans may equal heaven and earth, not entangled by the hundred diseases; that the six relations and kin may constantly protect one another; that hostile bandits and weapons may be forever parted from us; that clothing and trunks may naturally be ever full, and fragrant rice of a hundred flavors ever fill our bowls; that prisons and places of confinement may be transformed into heavenly halls; that verbal disputes and mutual criticism may turn into harmony; that lingering diseases of successive years may depart body and mind forever; that pestilences, poisons, and all calamities may ever leave our thoughts; and that monsters, sprites, ominous birds, tigers, leopards, jackals, wolves, and all misfortunes of water and land may depart without remainder; and whether cutting and punishing oneself or getting angry or delighted by oneself—may all such sins, from now until we attain Buddhahood, be parted from us forever. May we disciples not receive retributions in the evil destinies; but rather, giving rise only to great compassion, rescue and protect all sentient beings, enabling them to fulfill their natures, broadly transform all species, and together ascend to correct awakening."

Mahāyāna Lotus Scripture of the Questions and Answers of the Śramaṇa Baoda on Retributions
28.24
A short time ago, Baoda entered a Flaying-the-Skin-and-Drinking-Blood Hell. Why is it named the Flaying-the-Skin-and-Drinking-Blood Hell? That hell is seventy yojanas in length and breadth, enclosed on all sides by iron walls and covered with iron netting; atop the four gates of the walls, boiling iron flows down, spreading throughout the hell, ablaze and scorching. Furthermore, there are mechanical crossbows suspended in the void; when the sinners collide against them, the mechanical crossbows fire of themselves, shooting the sinners in the chest, or entering through their eyes, or entering through their mouths; and wherever the arrows strike, fierce fires blaze up together.
28.25
At that time, inside the southern gate there were five thousand sinners wailing and loudly weeping, crying out words such as these: "What sin have I committed now to enter this place?" Rolling about and casting themselves upon the ground, they refused to advance. A horse-headed rākṣasa, holding an iron hook in hand, struck toward their faces and dragged them into the hell. Once the sinners entered, flying fire came to scorch their bodies; their entire bodies were charred and rotten, skin and flesh separating from one another. Thereupon there were various worms of a thousand kinds that came to drink their blood, pulling and tugging at all their heads so that skin and flesh were torn apart. The jailer yakṣas right then flayed and stripped them, so that bones and flesh were sundered, their excruciating pains of ten thousand sorts. Through a single day and single night, they suffered boundless retribution, dying a thousand deaths and taking a thousand births, dying ten thousand deaths and taking ten thousand births, passing through tens of millions of kalpas with no date of release.
28.26
Baoda asked the horse-headed rākṣasa, saying: "Through what causes and conditions do all these sinners suffer such agony?"
28.27
The horse-headed rākṣasa answered, saying: "All these sinners received the pure precepts of the Buddha but did not firmly uphold them. Their minds were devoid of benevolence and compassion; their hands flayed sentient beings and slaughtered the Buddha-nature. Because of these sins, they fell into this hell. If they manage to emerge later, they shall fall among the beasts, where for hundreds of thousands of koṭis of births they will be slaughtered by others, facing enmity without any end; if they are born among humans, their faculties will be incomplete."
28.28
Baoda heard this, wept with grief, and departed.
