> When the Buddha spoke these words, the five hundred Śākya monks followed the Buddha's words and practiced them one by one. Their minds immediately became cool and clear; contemplating form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness as impermanent, suffering, empty, and non-self, they were not greedy for the world, thoroughly understood the Dharma of emptiness, and suddenly recovered their original minds. They broke through eighty billion blazing fetters, became srotāpannas, and gradually practicing and studying, attained arhatship—with the three knowledges, the six supernormal knowledges, and endowed with the eight liberations. At that time, the monks heard what the Buddha said, and rejoiced and practiced it. (This is named the supple method for curing internal wind of the four great elements.)
