- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.72](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.620.1.72)

> "'Birth and death are unbroken,
> Because of greed, desire, and craving for tastes.
> Nourishing enemies, one enters the graves and mounds,
> Enduring all bitterness and toil in vain.
> The body stinks like a corpse,
> The nine orifices flowing with impurity.
> Like worms in a privy delighting in dung,
> The fool's greed for the body is no different.
> The wise should contemplate the body,
> Not greedily attached to the world.
> Free of entanglements and devoid of desires,
> This is called true nirvāṇa.
> As all the buddhas have spoken,
> Practicing with single-minded determination,
> Counting the breath in a quiet place,
> This is called practicing the dhūta.'"
