> "What is called the mark of the white curl at the time of the Bodhisattva taking a consort? Yaśodharā's father himself sent a physiognomist to examine the Prince's marks. Seeing the thirty-two marks distinct and radiant as a painting, his mind was unclear only regarding the white hair. The physiognomist then said: 'Prince, god on earth! The rest of your marks are identical to those of a golden-wheel-turning king; only from this white hair do manifold lights pour forth, which is beyond my understanding. Now I wish to stretch it out to look; may I do so?' The Prince told him: 'As you wish.' At that time the physiognomist extended the hair with his hand, and from the hair there flowed forth \[light\] like the milk of a king of cattle, shooting into the physiognomist's eyes. His eyes became clear and pure, and right within the hair he saw hundreds of thousands of wheel-turning sage kings, each fully possessing the seven treasures and a thousand sons. The physiognomist was astonished and said: 'Prince, god on earth! I stretched the white hair wishing to observe its length, and do not know why it came like the milk of a king of cattle to shoot into my eyes. Was this seeing reality, was it seeing a dream, or was it madness? Now I have forgotten everything. The Prince's primary and secondary marks have entirely vanished; I see only hundreds of thousands of wheel-turning sage kings, the seven treasures, a thousand sons, and the fourfold armies rising up from the four quarters. My heart is joyful, like a brahmin attaining the bliss of the Brahmā realm.' Having spoken, he released the hair, and curling gracefully to the right, it returned to its original place.
