> "Then Rāhula led this old woman to the Jetavana. Having arrived, she saw the Buddha's body with the marks of purple-gold, and rejoicing with joined palms, she paid homage to the Buddha, repented of her former sins, and asked the Buddha to go forth \[as a monastic\]. The Buddha said to Rāhula: 'Take this woman to Gautamī.' Before they had even arrived, Rāhula explained to her the dharmas of suffering, emptiness, impermanence, and non-self. When the old woman heard this, her hair fell out of itself and she became a nun (bhikṣuṇī). Endowed with the three knowledges, the six supernatural powers, and the eight liberations, she ascended into the sky and performed the eighteen transformations.
