> “The king told the elder: ‘When the Tathāgata appears in the world, he tames many beings: Aṅgulimāla, breath-exhaling caṇḍālas, mighty spirit-kings, rākṣasas, and executioners—all have been transformed by him. I shall now go to the Buddha and report this matter. You may be slightly patient.’ Having comforted his minister, the king mounted a noble elephant and went with his attendants to Jetavana. He paid homage to the Buddha, circumambulated the Buddha three times, joined his palms, knelt upright, and said: ‘Bhagavat! The courtesans of the kingdom of Mathurā have now come here to delude the youths. May the Buddha please transform them.’ The Buddha told the great king: ‘After seven days, the Buddha himself will see to it.’ At that, King Prasenajit paid homage to the Buddha and withdrew.”
