- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.14](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.730.1.14)

「佛初得道不食七日，有四因緣：一者、念道忘食；二者、一心不飢；三者、歡喜不渴；四者、不念痛痒思想生死識；是為四。欲使人聽經亦爾。

> "That when the Buddha first attained the Way he did not eat for seven days is due to four nidānas: first, contemplating the Way, he forgot food; second, with single-mindedness, he was not hungry; third, with joy, he was not thirsty; fourth, he did not dwell upon feeling, perception, volitional formations, and consciousness; these are the four. He wishes to cause people who listen to the sūtras to be likewise.
