> Thereupon the Emperor was enlightened and immediately dispatched twelve envoys, including Zhang Qian, the Palace Commander of the Feathered Forest Qin Jing, and the Erudite's disciple Wang Zun, to the Kingdom of the Great Yuezhi to copy and obtain the Sūtra in Forty-two Sections of the Buddha. In the fourteenth stone casket, \[a stupa\] was erected and a monastery established. Thereupon the teachings of the Way spread widely, and Buddhist monasteries were built and maintained in every place. Distant peoples submitted and transformed, desiring to become subjects and servants beyond counting; the realm was pure and tranquil, and sentient beings have received grace and relied \[upon it\] without end down to the present day.
