The Buddha said: "A person who practices the Way is like one fighting ten thousand men. Donning armor, grasping weapons, he goes out the gate intending to battle. But his resolve is cowardly and his courage weak, so he flees of his own accord; or he turns back halfway; or he fights and dies; or he wins a great victory, returning to his country to receive high rank. If a person can hold firmly to their mind, advance with sharp vigor, and remain undeluded by the wild and foolish talk of the vulgar world, then with desires extinguished and evils ended, they will certainly attain the Way."
