- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.28](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.785.1.28)

> There are further five matters: First, the staff must constantly remain in one's own room and not leave one's person. Second, the lower tip is not permitted to touch the ground. Third, the staff is not permitted to grow mold. Fourth, it must be properly polished and wiped daily. Fifth, when about to take the staff out, one should receive it from a novice monk (śrāmaṇera); if there is no novice, a layperson is also acceptable.
