"Maitreya, you should know / that all sentient beings / fail to attain great liberation / entirely because of greedy desires, / falling into birth and death. / If they can sever resentment and attachment, / along with greed, anger, and delusion, / without regard to their distinct natures / all will attain the Buddha-path. / When the two hindrances are forever dissolved, / they seek a teacher and gain correct awakening, / according with their vows of bodhi / and relying on great nirvāṇa. / The bodhisattvas of the ten directions / all by the power of great compassionate vows / manifest entering into birth and death. / Present practitioners / and sentient beings of the latter age / who diligently sever all attachments and views / will then return to great perfect enlightenment."
