2.9.1

Seyyathāpi, māṇava, puriso bandhanāgāre baddho assa.

Suppose a person was imprisoned in a jail.

2.9.2

So aparena samayena tamhā bandhanāgārā mucceyya sotthinā abbhayena, na cassa kiñci bhogānaṃ vayo.

But after some time they were released from jail, safe and sound, with no loss of wealth.

Tassa evamassa:

Thinking about this,

‘ahaṃ kho pubbe bandhanāgāre baddho ahosiṃ.

2.9.5

Somhi etarahi tamhā bandhanāgārā mutto sotthinā abbhayena, natthi ca me kiñci bhogānaṃ vayo’ti.

2.9.6

So tatonidānaṃ labhetha pāmojjaṃ, adhigaccheyya somanassaṃ.

they’d be filled with joy and happiness.
