> And here I am, wishing in his love for my death, / that I may be gathered on the Day of Reckoning as one madly in love.
> I shall not be pleased with my eyelids in love / if they do not spend the night in his love dripping blood.
> By virtue of the fact that ‘hearts bear witness to hearts,’ the sincerity of my affection and perfection of my love plunged the prince
> into love and made him a captive of desire for me. The fire of yearning utterly consumed the harvest of both our souls, and the tears of
> our two blood-shedding eyes began to bear witness upon our faces; the yellowness of our cheeks began to tear the veil of patience,
> and it was near that this matter should be spoken of from mouth to mouth like common gossip, that a resurrection of reproach and blame should arise from every side,
> and that news of this state should reach far and wide. The prince made his bed from the dust of my lane,
> cast dust into the eyes of good name and reputation, and recited, verse:
> Let the people know that I am in love and drunk! / The rumor is true that I have broken my vow of repentance!
