Religious ecstasy, overpowering him, used to reduce him to a state like inebriety. Daily, after early morning prayers, the Miftāḥ, written by Shaikh Rashīd (may God sanctify his soul!), used to be read in his venerable assembly, after the rule of the Kubravī order, and he would then fall into a religious ecstasy, and in like manner he was assiduous in reading the Masnavī of the Maulavī-yi-Ma‘navī. His feet were firm on the path of the most pure law, and his speech sprang ever from spiritual knowledge, and affected the hearts of his hearers. If at times one would praise him he would say, “It is yourself that you are regarding.” He stayed some time in Badaon for the purpose of seeing some Turks who had attached themselves to him as their spiritual leader, and made that place resplendent with the light of his presence, and the bounty of his blessed companionship reached the inhabitants of that district.
