See page 300\]. Dow leaves this passage out entirely: but Briggs, who appears to have been equally smitten with “Afgan or Patan” monomania, translates \[page 50\], the last part of the sentence, “Fakhr-ood Deen Mubarick Lody who wrote a history,” &c. He read Marw-ar-Rudi — as Lody \[Ludi\], and so made a “Patan” of him too!
