The Malikah-i-Jahan, his mother, adopting a good expedient, represented to the people to the effect that her son was going to the city of Dihli for the purpose of obtaining medicine and remedy for sickness ; and she placed the Sultan in a litter ; and the Malikah, his mother, taking him along with her, and, attended by a great number of domestics on foot and on horseback, set out from Bhara’ij towards the capital, Dihli. When night came on, they covered the blessed face of the Sultan with a woman’s veil and placed him on horseback, and, proceeding with the utmost expedition, in a short space of time they reached Dihli on such wise that not a living being had information of the arrival of the august cavalcade of this monarch of felicitous reign until the day that he ascended the throne.
