Vindhyavāsivacanāni
1.1
sattvatapyatvam eva puruṣatapyatvam
The suffering of the puruṣa is nothing other than the suffering of the sattva.
The being afflicted of the intellect (sattva) is itself the being afflicted of the person.
1.2
puruṣo 'vikṛtātmaiva svanirbhāsam acetanam /
manaḥ karoti sānnidhyād upādhiḥ sphaṭikaṃ yathā //
The puruṣa, indeed unmodified in nature, by its proximity / makes the unconscious mind reflect itself, just as an adjunct [colours] crystal.
The person, itself unchanged, by its mere presence makes the unconscious mind reflect it, as a coloured object does a crystal.
1.3
śrotrādivṛttir avikalpikā pratyakṣam
Perception is the non-conceptual functioning of the ear and other sense organs.
Perception is the non-conceptual operation of the ear and the other senses.
