Brahmasūtrabhāṣya (Śārīrakamīmāṃsābhāṣya) 2.714

Language
Sanskrit

2.714.1

acalatvaṃ cāpekṣya ||

And with reference to immobility (scripture ascribes thought to the earth, &c.).

George Thibaut 1890, The Vedânta-Sûtras with the Commentary by Śaṅkarâkârya (Sacred Books of the East 34, 38)

2.714.2

api ca 'dhyāyatīva pṛthivī' (chā. 7.6.1) iti atra pṛthivyādiṣu acalatvameva apekṣya dhyāyativādo bhavati tat ca liṅgam upāsanasya āsīnakarmatve // 9 //

Moreover, in the passage 'The earth thinks as it were' scripture ascribes thought to the earth, with regard to its immobility. This also helps us to infer that meditation is the occupation of one who is sitting.

George Thibaut 1890, The Vedânta-Sûtras with the Commentary by Śaṅkarâkârya (Sacred Books of the East 34, 38)
