> In the city of Rājagṛha, up to \[…\] while paying homage, \[Gautama\] spoke thus:
> "How many lokapālas, Venerable Sir, are declared for Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas?"
> "Gautama! Four lokapālas are declared, namely: Soma, Yama, Varuṇa, and Vaiśramaṇa."
> "For these four lokapālas, Venerable Sir, how many celestial abodes are declared?"
> "Gautama! Four celestial abodes are declared, namely: Sandhyāprabha, Varaśiṣṭha, Svayañjala, and Valgu."
> "Where, Venerable Sir, is the great celestial abode named Sandhyāprabha of Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas, declared to be?"
> "Gautama! In the continent of Jambūdvīpa, to the south of Mount Mandara, above the very level and charming ground surface of this Ratnaprabhā earth, above the moon, the sun, the planetary bodies, the constellations, and the stars by many yojanas, up to \[…\] five vatamsaka-abodes are declared, namely: the Aśokāvataṃsaka, the Saptaparṇāvataṃsaka, the Campakāvataṃsaka, the Cūtāvataṃsaka, and in the middle the Saudharmāvataṃsaka.
> To the east of that great celestial abode Saudharmāvataṃsaka, in the Saudharma heaven, having traversed incalculable yojanas, there is declared the great celestial abode named Sandhyāprabha of Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas. It is declared to be twelve and a half hundred thousand yojanas in length and breadth, and thirty-nine hundred thousand, fifty-two thousand, and eight hundred and forty-eight yojanas slightly exceeded in circumference. Whatever statement is made regarding the Sūryābhadeva celestial abode, all of it without omission should be spoken, up to the consecration, with the sole difference: Soma the deva.
> Beneath that great celestial abode Sandhyāprabha, in its flank, in its opposite direction, having penetrated incalculable thousands of yojanas, there is declared the capital city named Somā of Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas—measuring one hundred thousand yojanas in length and breadth, the size of Jambūdvīpa. Half the measure of the Vaimānikas' \[defensive walls, etc.\] should be understood, up to: its plinth floor is sixteen thousand yojanas in length and breadth, and declared to be fifty thousand, five hundred and ninety-seven yojanas slightly less in circumference. Four series of palaces should be understood; there are no others.
> These devas abide by the command, birth-jurisdiction, word, and instruction of Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas, namely: the Somakāyikas, the Somadevakāyikas, the Vidyutkumāras, the Vidyutkumārīs, the Agnikumāras, the Agnikumārīs, the Vāyukumāras, the Vāyukumārīs, the moons, the suns, the planets, the constellations, the stars; and whatever others of such nature, all of them devoted to him, taking his side, under his authority, abide by the command, birth-jurisdiction, word, and instruction of Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas.
> In the continent of Jambūdvīpa, \[to the south\] of Mount Mandara, \[whatever occurs:\]
> planetary alignments like staffs, planetary pestles, planetary thunderings, planetary warfare, planetary triangles, planetary retrogressions, clouds, cloud-trees, twilights, cities of the Gandharvas, meteor falls, fiery glow of the quarters, thunderings, lightnings, dust showers, sacrificial posts, yakṣa-smears, haze, mists, dust-storms, lunar eclipses, solar eclipses, lunar halos, solar halos, mock moons, mock suns, rainbows, water-fishes, monkey-laughter, unyielding sky-signs, east winds, west winds, south winds, north winds, upward winds, downward winds, horizontal winds, intermediate-quarter winds, whirling winds, storm winds, cyclone winds, rising winds, cyclical winds, whistling winds, gale winds, cataclysm winds, village fires, up to settlement fires, destruction of living beings, destruction of people, destruction of wealth, destruction of families, calamity-producing and non-Aryan occurrences—whatever other things of such nature, they are not unknown, unseen, unheard, unremembered, or uncomprehended by Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas, nor by those Somakāyika devas.
> These devas are recognized and acknowledged like offspring by Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas, namely: Aṅgāraka, Vikālaka, Lohitākṣa, Śanaiścara, the moon, the sun, Śukra, Budha, Bṛhaspati, and Rāhu.
> The lifespan duration of Soma the great king, the lokapāla of Śakra, king of the devas and lord of the devas, is declared to be one palyopama with one-third part. The lifespan duration of the devas recognized like offspring is declared to be one palyopama. Of such great fortune, up to of great majesty is Soma the great king."
