> "Venerable Sir, with regard to temporal qualification (kālādeśa), is a soul with spatial units (sapradeśa) or without spatial units (apradeśa)?"
> "Gautama, it is necessarily with spatial units."
> "Venerable Sir, with regard to temporal qualification, is an inhabitant of hell with spatial units or without spatial units?"
> "Gautama, it may be with spatial units, or it may be without spatial units."
> In this manner, up to liberated souls.
> "Venerable Sir, with regard to temporal qualification, are \[multiple\] souls with spatial units or without spatial units?"
> "Gautama, they are necessarily with spatial units."
> "Venerable Sir, with regard to temporal qualification, are \[multiple\] inhabitants of hell with spatial units or without spatial units?"
> "Gautama, 1. either all of them may indeed be with spatial units; 2. or there may be \[many\] with spatial units and one without spatial units; 3. or there may be \[many\] with spatial units and \[many\] without spatial units."
> In this manner, up to Stanitakumāras.
> "Venerable Sir, are earth-bodied souls with spatial units or without spatial units?"
> "Gautama, they are both with spatial units and without spatial units."
> In this manner, up to plant-bodied souls.
> The remaining are like the inhabitants of hell, so on up to liberated souls.
> For nourishment-taking souls, excluding jīva and one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination (tribhaṅga). For non-nourishment-taking souls, excluding jīva and one-sensed souls, the sixfold combination (ṣaḍbhaṅga) should be stated thus: 1. either \[all\] with spatial units; 2. or \[all\] without spatial units; 3. or one with spatial units and one without spatial units; 4. or one with spatial units and many without spatial units; 5. or many with spatial units and one without spatial units; 6. or many with spatial units and many without spatial units. With liberated souls, there is the threefold combination.
> Those capable of liberation (bhavasiddhiyas) and those incapable of liberation (abhavasiddhiyas) are like the general \[jīvas\]. For those who are neither capable nor incapable of liberation, jīvas, and liberated souls, there is the threefold combination.
> For sentient souls, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination. For non-sentient souls, excluding one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination. For inhabitants of hell, celestial beings, and humans, there is the sixfold combination. For those who are neither sentient nor non-sentient, jīvas, humans, and liberated souls, there is the threefold combination.
> Those with lesyā are like the general \[jīvas\]. Those with black lesyā, blue lesyā, and grey lesyā are like nourishment-taking souls, with the distinction: to whomsoever these pertain. For fiery lesyā, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination, with the distinction: in earth-bodied souls, water-bodied souls, and plants, there is the sixfold combination. In lotus lesyā and white lesyā, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination. For those devoid of lesyā, among jīvas and liberated souls, there is the threefold combination; among humans, there is the sixfold combination.
> For those with right view, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination; among deficient-sensed souls (vikalendriyas), there is the sixfold combination. For those with wrong view, excluding one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination. For those with mixed view, there is the sixfold combination. For restrained souls, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination. For non-restrained souls, excluding one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination. For partially restrained souls, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination. For those who are neither restrained, nor non-restrained, nor partially restrained, among jīvas and liberated souls, there is the threefold combination.
> For impassioned souls, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination; in one-sensed souls, there is a single variant (abhaṅgaka). For anger-impassioned souls, excluding jīva and one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination; among celestial beings, there is the sixfold combination. For pride-impassioned and deceit-impassioned souls, excluding jīva and one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination; among inhabitants of hell and celestial beings, there is the sixfold combination. For greed-impassioned souls, excluding jīva and one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination; among inhabitants of hell, there is the sixfold combination. For non-impassioned souls, among jīvas, humans, and liberated souls, there is the threefold combination.

In erroneous clairvoyance (vibhaṅgajñāna), beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination.
> Souls with yoga are like the general \[jīvas\]. For mind-yoga, speech-yoga, and body-yoga, beginning with jīva, there is the threefold combination, with the distinction: body-yoga pertains to one-sensed souls, and among them it is a single variant. Souls without yoga are like those devoid of lesyā.
> For those with determinate application and indeterminate application of consciousness, excluding jīva and one-sensed souls, there is the threefold combination.
