> At night, however, another blessed incident took place. When Kāliya was expelled from the waters of the Kālindī, learning of it right at that time in harsh terms from the mouth of a spy, Kaṃsa, the crest-jewel of wicked men, remained motionless, his heart continuously weighed down with anxiety. His anxiety was like this: 'Alas, alas! Our warriors are continually meeting destruction through him! Thus the goblin-form of disgrace, whose face is fire, laughs heartily, scorches my men, wanders through the three worlds, and dances again and again! Ah, even the mighty Kāliya immediately found his strength dissolving away. And that banishment of his we consider to be an utter loss of dwelling, since we too have become bereft of any shelter. Therefore, something must be done now so that no harm comes to our men, while injury is brought to him.'
