Experiencing complete bliss, finding the root of utmost joy in the various reports delivered by his companions, he brought forward those brāhmaṇas worthy of gifts and made extensive preparations for giving.

> \[21\] There, the brāhmaṇas who knew the purport of the Vedas, who excelled in their respective branches of learning; the bards, heralds, encomiasts, actors, and singers; and the musicians playing various instruments at their pleasure—all of them, gathered together at that festival, sounding forth only auspicious notes, astonished the universe, their voices, though diverse, harmonizing as if one. While this event was taking place, the region of Vraja itself appeared delighted, to say nothing of the dwellers of Vraja. For, swept clean, it was free of disorder; sprinkled with water, it seemed affectionate; and with flutter of colorful flags, it seemed to dance. And when even the cows, bulls, and calves manifested the loving affection natural to them outwardly, under the guise of anointing with turmeric dissolved in oil, and their manifold joy under the guise of variegated minerals, peacock feathers, garlands, and golden neck-chains, what need be said of the cowherds? They are indeed spoken of in that way as if protectors of the earth of cattle, surviving even today through their fame; having manifested aesthetic sentiments and states and wearing ornaments, they became non-different from the poetic works that describe them. With hands laden with offerings made of various jewels held up in joy, they showed their heroism in love. And when such was the case with the cowherds, how could one sufficiently describe the excellent cowherd women, whose hearts were smeared and softened by the virtues of the queen of Gokula, who was their very life?
