### [1.103](https://indike.org/pramana/in.lit.campu.ramayana.ramayanacampu~en-mt.1.103)

There, Kauśika, duly worshipped and having recounted the story of Daśaratha's sons, instructed Rāma to string the bow presented by Janaka with the words: "This was entrusted by the immortals, headed by Indra, to Devarāta, the most distinguished elder of our family, and preserved by me especially as Sītā's bride-price."
Then:
As Rāma displayed the strength of his arms, the raising of the bowstring was not on the bow's bamboo alone,
but the elevation of virtue was also on the solar lineage adorned by himself;
not only was that bow drawn back completely, but Sītā's heart was swiftly drawn as well;
and the shattering was not merely of it, but also of the pretended pillar-like arms of the kings. (103)
