2.10.1
Meanwhile, approaching the fair-faced one who was subject to a soft anger,
her face overcome by boundless sighs,
who bashfully looked toward her confidante's face, Hari spoke at day's end,
with words faltering with joy:
2.10.2
If you speak even a little, the moonlight of the radiance of your teeth
dispels the terrible darkness of fear;
let the cakora-bird of my eyes delight
in the moon of your face for the nectar of your trembling lips!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.3
If you are truly angry with me, O woman with beautiful teeth,
give me the strike of the arrows of your sharp nails;
fasten the bond of your arms, make marks with your bite,
or do whatever brings a host of pleasures!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.4
You are my ornament, you are my life,
you are the jewel of the ocean of my existence;
may you always be accommodating toward me here,
to that end my heart makes its utmost effort!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.5
Though resembling a blue water-lily, O slender one, your eye
assumes the form of a red lotus;
if you redden Kṛṣṇa with the arrows of the flower-arrowed god,
that is only fitting!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.6
Let the cluster of gems gleam upon the pitcher-like breasts
and adorn the region of your heart;
let the girdle also jingle upon the round circle of your hips
and proclaim the command of Manmatha!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.7
Surpassing the land-growing lotus, delighting my heart,
creating an extraordinary beauty in the theater of love—
tell me, O sweet-voiced woman, shall I make your lotus foot
passionate with fresh, gleaming red lac?
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.8
Destroying the poison of Smara, an ornament for my head,
place upon me your noble, sprout-like foot!
Burning within me, fierce and red with the torment of Madana,
let it remove the perturbation caused by him!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.9
Thus, concerning Rādhikā, the array of words of Murāri's enemy,
clever in trembling flatteries and charming,
spoken through the voice of poet Jayadeva, the lover of Padmāvatī,
triumphs, exceedingly keen!
O beloved of charming nature, abandon your groundless pride toward me!
At once the fire of Madana burns my heart;
grant me the drink of the honey from your lotus mouth!
2.10.10
Cast off your fear, O anxious woman! In my heart, continually occupied by you
with your full breasts and hips, leaving room for no other,
no fortunate other enters, save for the Bodiless One;
yield compliance to the beginning of the embrace of the fullness of your breasts!
2.10.11
O innocent woman, inflict upon me merciless biting of teeth,
the binding of the creepers of your arms, and the tight pressing of your breasts!
O fierce woman, you yourself take delight; do not let my breaths depart
from being shattered by the outcaste arrows of the five-arrowed god!
2.10.12
Your silence pains me in vain, O slender one: utter the fifth note;
O youthful woman, dispel my burning heat with sweet conversation and with glances!
O fair-faced one, abandon your aversion, do not abandon me;
I, your beloved, exceedingly affectionate, have arrived in person, O innocent one!
2.10.13
This lower lip has kinship with the radiance of the bandhūka flower; the smooth cheek shines with the luster of the madhūka blossom, O passionate girl; / the eye steals away the loveliness of the blue lotus; the nose approaches the realm of the sesamum bloom, O you whose teeth gleam like jasmine blossoms, my love; / surely by serving your face, that flower-weaponed god conquers the universe.
2.10.14
Your eyes are languid with intoxication, your face illuminates the moon, / your gait captivates the minds of all, your two thighs outdo plantain stems, / your amorous pleasure is endowed with arts, and your brows are radiant, lovely lines: / ah, slender one, though on earth, you bear the beauty of divine maidens!
