The Bhojaprabandha is perhaps an anthology of conversational tales composed by Ballālasena with this illustrious Bhoja as its central figure. The tendency toward such anthologies is found in Jain literature in the form of the Prabandhacintāmaṇi composed by Merutuṅga and the Prabandhakośa composed by Rājaśekhara Sūri. That the Bhojaprabandha is an outgrowth of that tradition—this view of my dear friend Dr. Bholā Śaṅkar Vyās seems entirely correct.
