garbhadrutyā rahito grāsaścīrṇo+api naikatāṃ yāti /
ekībhāvena vinā na jīryate tena sā kāryā //
Devoid of internal liquefaction, a bolus—even though consumed—does not achieve unity;
without unification it is not digested; therefore that [internal liquefaction] must be performed.
