‘Oṃ hrīṃ krauṃ kṣlaiṃ kṣlaṃ hrīṃ hrīṃ hrīṃ hrūḥ huṃ phaṭ to the Lord of Mercury, to Mahākālabhairava, of terrible form, with dark yellowish-brown eyes: / descend, descend! cause to descend, cause to descend! speak, speak! cause to speak, cause to speak! declare the good and bad, declare, declare! make great protection, make, make! grant mercurial success!’ / Thus the garland mantras. / ‘Oṃ to Mahākālabhairava, to the heart, namaḥ.’ / ‘Oṃ to Mahābalabhairava, to the head, svāhā.’ / ‘Oṃ to Aghorabhairava, to the crest, vauṣaṭ.’ / ‘Oṃ to Vajravīrabhairava, to the armor, huṃ.’ / ‘Oṃ to Krodhabhairava, to the eye, vauṣaṭ.’ / ‘Oṃ to Kaṅkālabhairava, to the weapon, phaṭ.’ / Everywhere ending in svāhā. / Thus the placements on the limbs. / One should perform the placements on the fingers first in this way. / These are the root mantras for the six limbs and for worship.

### [2.98](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.98)

One should worship the letters of the placement thus with assemblages of fragrant flowers. / One should place a full jar in the center, and a shallow dish along with rice grains;

### [2.99](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.99)

upon it a ghee lamp, and one should consecrate the wick with the mantras.

### [2.100](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.100)

Then, bringing a maiden or an auspicious boy— / one should bring one, two, three, four, or five according to availability— / one should worship \[them\] with fragrant flowers, incense, lamps, and food offerings.

### [2.101](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.101)

On each one, one should place the mantra and the deities of the heart and other \[limbs\].

### [2.102](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.102)

Then, looking into that lamp, all the maidens there / \[and\] the boys see the deity in the lamp, and good and bad fortune; / the maidens declare success or failure.

### [2.103](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.103)

Having thus ascertained the invocation of the divination, one should proceed with the mercurial work.

### [2.104](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.104)

One who was formerly imbued in mind with the lord of mercury, O goddess of the gods, / having died and been born through seven lifetimes, does not abandon contemplation of mercury.

### [2.105](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.105)

Having thus known good and bad fortune, endowed with the grace of the deity, / having worshipped the goddess Rasāṅkuśī in the pavilion as before,

### [2.106](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.106)

and having also worshipped the teacher with incense, garlands, sandalwood, and so forth, / and offered a bali-offering with the Aghora \[mantra\], one should then perform the work.

### [2.107](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.107)

The herbs are in the eastern part of the pavilion; the sweating of mercury is in the southeast; / the killing of metals is in the south; grinding and so forth is in the southwest;

### [2.108](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.108)

the operation of liquefaction is in the west; blowing \[the furnace\], O beloved, is in the northwest; / the enhancement of color is in the north; and mercurial transmutation is in the northeast.

### [2.109](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.109)

Having placed the seat of the guru in the middle, O queen of gods, / the practitioner must perform the operations from restraint up to penetration, / O fair-faced one, with the Rasāṅkuśa mantra.

### [2.110](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.110)

The Rasabhairava who was previously described, O goddess of the gods: / Sadyojāta is his knee, and Vāmadeva his secret part;

### [2.111](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.111)

Aghora is his heart, his face is remembered as Tatpuruṣa, / Īśāna extends up to the space between his eyebrows, and the crescent moon is his forehead.

### [2.112](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.112)

Above that, O Devī, is the bindu; above the bindu resides the nāda; / between the forehead and the crown of the head, Śakti is situated right there.

### [2.113](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.113)

Vyāpinī resides in the brahmarandhra, and above that is unmanā; / unmanā is the state of mind-transcendence, unmanā is the imperishable abode.

### [2.114](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.114)

Above that is the supreme truth, abiding in the void, higher than the highest, / the void, the void, and again the void, the threefold void, free from affliction;

### [2.115](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.115)

the sky, the firmament, the void, the space, and solitary ether; / partless, spotless, eternal, waveless, free from affliction;

### [2.116](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.116)

free from manifold expansion, without support, devoid of qualities yet the sphere of qualities: / in this form one should constantly meditate upon Rasabhairava within one's own body.

### [2.117](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.117)

And when one meditates steadily, when the mind is motionless, / then mercury is likewise bound motionless within the fire.

### [2.118](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.118)

And when meditation wavers, mercury does not stay in the fire.

### [2.119](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.119)

Outside the circle, at night, with liquor, fish, meat, and the like, / one should worship the yakṣas, gandharvas, piśācas, and rākṣasas.

### [2.120](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.120)

Obstacles to the performance of operations and obstacles to the results arise / by the millions; therefore, for the pacification of each of them, / having first worshipped Vaṭukeśvara and the sixfold grace of the worship, one should proceed.

### [2.121](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.121)

And at the end of the operation, having again worshipped the child \[Vaṭuka\] and the eightfold eightfold grace, / one should apply that successful substance, which grants success.

### [2.122](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.122)

One who has succeeded should destroy the dispute; he should leave that region; / he should wander for alms gathered like bees when the great mercury is fully perfected.

### [2.123](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.123)

If an obstacle arises through negligence when the binding of mercury has been performed, / the pacification of mercury should be performed; one must not cause agitation to the mercury.

### [2.124](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.124)

One must not show mercury, O Devī; one must not drop it into a woman's hand; / the secret must not be told to a woman; one must indeed conceal the substance from them.

### [2.125](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.125)

It must not be done with another's materials; one must not touch another's wife; / one must never eat another's food; and one must never trust others.

### [2.126](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.126)

It should not be given to those of evil intent, nor to a solicitor in the form of a company.

### [2.127](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.127)

On the eighth day, on the full moon, on the new moon, at the start of yugas, / at the solstices, at the equinoxes, and especially on the fourteenth day, / one should celebrate the festival of mercury according to one's wealth.

### [2.128](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.128)

O Devī, whoever performs the festival of mercury in this way, endowed with devotion, / his various sins, such as the killing of a brahmin, are destroyed.

### [2.129](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.129)

Where practitioners perform worship according to this procedure,
there neither disease nor destitution arises, nor do plagues prevail.

### [2.130](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.130)

Having duly instituted such worship for mercury according to the rule,
the operation should then be performed by those desiring good fortune for themselves.

### [2.131](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.131)

Whoever acts otherwise does not attain success;
failure arises, suspicion of sin, and indeed confusion of intellect.

### [2.132](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.132)

Disrespect, a host of illnesses, and doubt at every step \[ensue\].
Because of laziness, intense greed, and revealing \[it\] to others,
the Kulakas steal away even the knowledge that had arisen, O beloved.

### [2.133](https://indike.org/pramana/in.med.rasa.siddha.rasarnava~en-mt.2.133)

One who is initiated, knowing the assignment of mantras, should practice mercurial operations.
Declare that to me, O ruler of the gods; what else do you wish to hear?
