When men were being afflicted by diseases that cause obstacles
to virtue, wealth, desire, and liberation, placing Punarvasu at their head,

From excessive indulgence or during the non-menstrual period, that very \[menstrual fluid\] obtains the names asṛgdara, pradara, and the disorder named raktayoni.

In curing that, one should look to the treatment of bleeding disorders and the prevention of diseases of the female genital organs.

And from its heat, bleeding disorder \[arises\].

And at that very sacrifice, for those who, overcome with anger and fear, fled in all directions, by physical agitations such as jumping and leaping, abdominal swellings, abscesses, scrotal enlargements, abdominal enlargements, and so forth arose;

from the consumption of sacrificial oblations, urinary disorders, skin diseases, hemorrhoids, swellings, diarrhea, and so forth arose;

from fear, terror, grief, and contact with impurities, insanity, epilepsy, seizures by spirits, and so forth arose;

and from excessive indulgence with Rohiṇī and the anger of Prajāpati caused by non-cohabitation with his remaining daughters, consumption arose for the king of stars, and together with it, cough, dyspnea, and so forth arose.

For even that does not persist without fever; thus the entire group of diseases is preceded by fever or designated by the word fever.

With nausea, excessive salivation, aversion to food, cough, and cholera-like diarrhea.

Taking dried long peppers, rubbing them with curd, ghee, honey, and meat-paste, drying them again, filling a new, dust-free jar up to the neck, one should deposit it well hidden.

"You are the self indeed, named son; so live for a hundred autumns!"
