Having thus sacrificed with hundreds of rites, the lord of gods, of great splendor, / questioned his guru Bṛhaspati, the foremost among the eloquent:
6.2
“O venerable one, by what gift does one gone to heaven increase in happiness? / Tell that which is imperishable, O highly fortunate one, best among speakers!”
6.3
Thus questioned by Indra, Bṛhaspati, the priest of the god of gods, / the lord of speech, of great majesty, spoke:
6.4
“The gift of gold, the gift of cows, and the gift of land, O Vāsava— / one who offers these increases in happiness after going to heaven.
6.5
Gold, silver, cloth, pearls, gems, and treasures— / everything indeed is given by one who bestows the earth.
6.5-2
One should give land cleared for crops, endowed with seed, garlanded with harvest; / as long as there are sunbeams in the world, so long is he honored in heaven.”
6.5-2.p1
