Śrī Garuḍa Mahāpurāṇa — 14
Hari said:
Now I shall declare the supreme yoga that grants enjoyment and liberation.
Hari, the Lord, is said by meditators to be the object of meditation through meditation.
1.14.2
Listen to that, O Great Lord, which destroys all sins:
Viṣṇu, the Lord of All, the Infinite, is devoid of the six earthly transformations.
1.14.3
Vāsudeva, the Lord of the Universe, the self of Brahman, is I alone.
Dwelling within the bodies of the embodied, eternal, devoid of all bodies,
1.14.4
free from bodily attributes, beyond the perishable and the imperishable,
dwelling within the six kinds [of senses], the seer, the hearer, the smeller, beyond the senses;
1.14.5
free from their attributes, the creator, devoid of name and lineage,
the thinker, the god dwelling in the mind, devoid of the mind;
1.14.6
free from the attributes of the mind, discerning knowledge and spiritual wisdom itself,
the knower, dwelling in the intellect, the witness, omniscient, devoid of intellect;
1.14.7
free from the attributes of the intellect, the all, omnipresent, mind,
entirely freed from living beings, devoid of the attributes of the vital breath;
1.14.8
the breath of the vital breath, greatly tranquil, devoid of fear,
free from egoism and the like, devoid of their attributes;
1.14.9
their witness and their controller, having the form of supreme bliss,
present in waking, dreaming, and deep sleep, their witness, devoid of them;
1.14.10
the fourth state, the supreme sustainer, whose form is seeing, devoid of qualities,
liberated, awakened, unaging, all-pervading, the true Self am I, auspicious.
1.14.11
Wise mortals who meditate thus on the Lord, the supreme state,
shall attain his form; in this matter no doubt should be entertained.
1.14.12
Thus the meditation has been explained to you, O Śaṅkara of virtuous vows.
Whoever constantly recites this goes to the world of Viṣṇu.
1.14.12.p1
Thus ends the fourteenth chapter, entitled 'Yoga of Meditation', in the Ritual Section named the First Part in the First Section of the glorious Garuḍa Mahāpurāṇa.
