78.1
Īśvara said: / Next I shall declare Kamalasaptamī in like manner, / by the mere proclamation of which the Day-maker is pleased here.
78.2
On the pure seventh day of spring, bathed with white mustard seeds, / having fashioned an auspicious golden lotus upon a vessel of sesame,
78.3
covering it with a pair of garments, he should worship it with perfume and flowers: / 'Salutation to the one with a lotus in his hand; salutation to you, the bearer of the universe;
78.4
salutation to you, O Day-maker; salutation be to you, O Maker of Light.' / Then, at the time of evening twilight, accompanied by a water-pot,
78.5
having honoured a brāhmaṇa with clothes, garlands, and ornaments, he should give it to him, / and according to his means he should give a tawny cow, adorned according to rule.
78.6
After the day and night have passed, on the eighth day he should feed brāhmaṇas; / then, according to his capacity, he should eat, abstaining from meat and oil.
78.7
According to this procedure, on the seventh day of the bright fortnight, month after month, / he should perform everything with devotion, free from miserliness with wealth.
78.8
At the conclusion of the vow, he should give a bed accompanied by a golden lotus, / and according to his means he should give a milch cow adorned with gold.
78.9
He should give vessels, seats, lamps, and other desired utensils. / But whoever performs Kamalasaptamī by this procedure / attains infinite fortune and is glorified in the world of Sūrya.
78.10
Then, kalpa after kalpa, having gone to the seven worlds one by one, / surrounded by Apsarases, he thence goes to the supreme state.
78.11
Whatever mortal sees this, hears it, or recites it with devotion, or turns his mind to it, / he too, having attained steadfast fortune here, becomes an inhabitant of the realm of Gandharvas and Vidyādharas.
