86.1
The Lord said: / Now I shall declare the supreme mountain of gold that destroys sins, / through the donation of which a mortal goes to the abode of Brahmā.
86.2
The best is a thousand palas, the intermediate five hundred; / the lowest is likewise half of that. Even one of small wealth, according to his capacity, / free from stinginess, should give above one pala according to his ability.
86.3
One should arrange everything as for the mountain of grain, O best of sages; / and likewise one should present the supporting hills to the officiating priests.
86.4
"Praise be to you, the seed of Brahmā! Praise be to you, the womb of Brahmā! / Since you grant infinite reward, therefore protect [me], O mountain!
86.5
Since you are the offspring of Fire, since you are sacred, O lord of the world, / therefore protect [me] in the form of a golden mountain, O best of mountains!"
86.6
Whoever gives a mountain of gold according to this rule / goes to the supreme world of Brahmā, which causes bliss. / He remains there for a hundred eons, and from there goes to the highest state.
