89.1
The Lord said: / Next I will describe the peerless mountain of ghee, / radiant, made of nectar, divine, and destroyer of great sins.
89.2
The mountain of ghee should be best with twenty jars of ghee; / it is declared intermediate with ten, and held to be lowest with five.
89.3
Even one of little wealth who performs [it] here according to rule [may make it] with two [jars]. / In the same way, one should arrange the supporting mountains with a fourth part.
89.4
One should place vessels of śāli rice on top of the jars; / one should make them compact and high, appropriately adorned, according to rule.
89.5
One should wrap them with white cloths, stalks of sugarcane, fruits, and the like; / the rest of the rite recited here is like that for the mountain of grain.
89.6
Likewise the homa and worship of the deities preceded by the preliminary consecration [are performed]; / when night has turned to dawn, with a peaceful mind, / he should present it to the guru, and likewise the supporting mountains to the officiating priests:
89.7
"Since ghee arose from the union of nectar and fiery energy, / therefore may Śaṃkara, whose flame is ghee, the soul of all, be pleased here!
89.8
Since luminous Brahman resides in ghee, know that; / therefore protect us constantly in the form of a mountain of ghee!"
89.9
Whoever gives this peerless mountain of ghee according to this rule, / even though joined with great sins, attains the world of Śaṃkara.
89.10
In an aerial chariot drawn by swans and cranes, garlanded with clusters of small bells, / surrounded by Apsarases, Siddhas, and Vidyādharas, / he sports with his ancestors until the dissolution of all beings.
