1.3.24.2

The mountains said: / "O mountain, let the giving away of the bride be performed today! By your good fortune the glorious Śambhu has been obtained today. / No doubt or hesitation should be held in your heart regarding this; therefore, let her be given to Īśvara!"
1.3.24.3

Hearing that speech of his friends, Himālaya / then made the proper solemn resolve, prompted by Brahmā: / "I give this maiden to you, O Parameśvara,
1.3.24.4
bhāryārthaṃ pratigṛhṇīṣvamaṃtreṇānena dattavān..
asmai rudrāya mahate devadavāya śaṃbhava..
kanyā dattā maheśāya girīṃdreṇa mahātmanā.. 26.4 ..
accept her as your wife!" With this formula he gave [her]. / "To this Rudra, the great one, the god of gods, to Śambhu—" / the maiden was given to Maheśa by the great-souled king of mountains.

vedavādaratāḥ kecidavadansaṃmatena vai.. 26.8 ..
knowers of various philosophical systems, spoke to one another there. / Some, devoted to Vedic debates, argued by mutual consensus:
1.3.24.9
evameva na cāpyevamevameva na cānyathā..
kāryameva na vā kāryaṃ kāryākāryaṃ tathā pare.. 26.9 ..
"It is certainly thus, and not thus"; "It is definitely thus, not otherwise"; / "It is indeed an obligation, or not an obligation"; and others [debated] what is to be done and what is not to be done.
1.3.24.10
ityevaṃ bruvatāṃ śabdaḥ śrūyate śivasannidhau..
svakīyaṃ matamāsthāya hyabruvaṃste parasparam..
tattvajñānavihīnāste kevalaṃ vedabuddhayaḥ.. 26.10 ..
Such a sound of them arguing was heard in the presence of Śiva. / Adhering to their own doctrines, they spoke among themselves, / lacking knowledge of reality and relying purely on Vedic intellect.
1.3.24.11
teṣāṃ tadvacanaṃ śrutvā parasparajayaiṣiṇām..
prahasya nārado vākyamuvāca śivasannidhau.. 26.11 ..

upadeśakarairvākyairbodhitāste dvijottamāḥ.. 26.15 ..
When addressed thus by Nārada, those best of the twice-born / were awakened by those words of instruction, those best of the twice-born.

In the meantime, the gods led by Brahmā and Viṣṇu, / seers, gandharvas, yakṣas, and whoever else had arrived there—
1.3.24.29

sadratnavastrābharaṇāni samyagdadau ca tāmbūlasugandhavāryapi.. 26.29 ..

and Indrāṇī, and likewise each of the world-protectors separately,

vastrālaṃkaraṇaiścaiva ratnairnānāvidhairapi..
ye cānya āgatāstatra te ca sarve prapūjitāḥ.. 26.52 ..
