evaṃ bruvāṇāṃ tāṃ vīro nigṛhya śapathairdṛḍham .. 12 ..
Binding her firmly with oaths as she spoke thus, the hero
1.4.61.26
mumoca sāpi saṃhṛṣṭā kṛcchrā- nmuktā yayau vanam ..
released her; and she, delighted at having escaped from peril, went into the forest.
1.4.61.27
so'pi vīraḥ khaṅgadhārī tatraivāvasthito'bhavat .. 13 ..
The sword-bearing hero remained right there.
1.4.61.28
tato madhyamarātrau ca garjitaṃ śrūyate mahat ..
Then, in the middle of the night, a great roar was heard,
1.4.61.29
andhakāraṃ ca saṃjajñe tamoṃ'dhanarakaprabham .. 14 ..
and a darkness arose resembling the darkness of the blind hell.
1.4.61.30
dadṛśe ca tataḥ śailaḥ śataśṛṃgo'tivistaraḥ ..
Then a mountain was seen, hundred-peaked and exceedingly vast.
1.4.61.31
nānāśilāḥ pramumuce nānāvṛkṣāṃśca socchrayān .. 15 ..
It cast down diverse boulders and diverse lofty trees;
1.4.61.32
nānānirjhara saṃghoṣaṃ vavṛṣe śoṇitaṃ vahu ..
with the roar of numerous torrents, it rained abundant blood.
1.4.61.33
taṃ tathā nagamālokya nirbhīto bhaiminaṃdanaḥ .. 16 ..
Beholding that mountain in such a state, the fearless son of Bhīma's son
1.4.61.34
parvato dviguṇo bhūtvā parvataṃ sahasāplutaḥ ..
became a mountain twice as large, suddenly leapt upon that mountain,
1.4.61.35
tadābhijaghne saṃhṛtya parvataṃ svena bhūbhṛtā .. 17 ..
and then, raising it, struck it down with his own mountain.
1.4.61.36
tadā viśīrṇaḥ so'bhūcca parvato bhūmimaṃḍale ..
Then that mountain shattered into pieces on the circle of the earth.
1.4.61.37
tato yojanadehātmā śataśīrṣaḥ śatodaraḥ .. 18 ..
Then, having a body measuring a yojana, with a hundred heads and a hundred bellies,
1.4.61.38
vaktrairmuṃcanmahājvālāṃ repalendro'bhyadhāvata ..
emitting great flames from his mouths, Repalendra charged forward.
1.4.61.39
taṃ dhāvamānaṃ dṛṣṭvaiva barbarīko mahābalaḥ .. 19 ..
Seeing him rushing forward, the mighty Barbarīka,
1.4.61.40
vidhāya tādṛśaṃ rūpaṃ nardantaṃ cāpyadhāvata ..
assuming a similar form, also rushed roaring [toward him].
1.4.61.41
tato madhyamarātrau tī laghu citraṃ ca suṣṭhu ca .. 1.2.63.20 ..
Then, in the middle of the night, the two fought swiftly, wondrously, and splendidly,
1.4.61.42
yuyudhāte bāṇajālairyathā prāvṛṣi toyadau ..
with clouds of arrows, like two rain-clouds in the monsoon season.
1.4.61.43
chinnacāpau ca khaṅgābhyāṃ chinnakhaḍgau ca muṣṭibhiḥ .. .. 21 ..
Their bows broken, [they fought] with swords; their swords broken, with fists;
1.4.61.44
parvatāviva satpakṣau ciraṃ yuyudhatuḥ sthiram ..
like two mountains with wings, they fought steadily for a long time.
1.4.61.45
tataḥ kakṣe samutpāṭya bhrāmayitvā muhūrtakam .. 22 ..
Then, lifting him under his arm and whirling him around for a moment,
1.4.61.46
bhūmau pradharṣayāmāsa prasṛtaṃ ca mumoca ha ..
he dashed him down upon the ground and hurled him outstretched;
1.4.61.47
cikṣepa cāgnikoṇe taṃ mahīsāgararodhasi .. 23 ..
he flung him into the south-eastern direction, onto the shore of the Mahīsāgara.
1.4.61.48
taddūre repalendrākhyaṃ grāmamadyāpi vartate ..
Far off from there, even today, there is a village named Repalendra.
1.4.61.49
evaṃ sa repalonāma vṛtratulyaparākramaḥ .. 24 ..
Thus that Repala, endowed with prowess equal to Vṛtra,
1.4.61.50
nāthaḥ śmaśānasyāvantyā vighnakṛnnihato'bhavat ..
the master of the cremation ground of Avantī who caused obstacles, was slain.
1.4.61.51
taṃ nihatya punarvīro barbarīkaḥ sthito'bhavat .. 25 ..
Having slain him, the heroic Barbarīka stood there once again.
1.4.61.52
tatastṛtīyayāme ca pratīcyā diśa āyayau ..
Then, in the third watch of the night, from the western quarter came
1.4.61.53
parvatābhā mahānādā pādaiḥ kampayatīva bhūḥ .. 26 ..
a creature resembling a mountain, uttering loud screams, making the earth tremble, as it were, with its feet—
1.4.61.54
duhadruhākhyāśvatarī meghabhraṣṭā taḍidyathā ..
a she-mule named Duhadruhā, like lightning fallen from a cloud.
1.4.61.55
tāmāyāṃtīṃ tathā dṛṣṭvā sūryavaiśvānaraprabhām .. 27 ..
Seeing her approaching thus, radiant like the sun and fire,
1.4.61.56
upasṛtya javādbhaimī ruroha prahasanniva ..
the son of Bhīma's line quickly approached and mounted her, as if laughing.
1.4.61.57
vegāttataḥ pradravatīṃ tuṇḍe prāhatya muṣṭibhiḥ .. 28 ..
Striking her on the snout with his fists as she ran with great speed,
1.4.61.58
sthāpayāmāsa tatraiva tasthau sā cātipīḍitā ..
he brought her to a halt right there, and she stood severely distressed.
1.4.61.59
tataḥ kruddhā mahārāvaṃ kṛtvāplutya duhadruhā .. 29 ..
Then, becoming enraged, Duhadruhā let out a great cry, leapt up,
1.4.61.60
jagatyāmāśu cikṣepa barbarīkaṃ tathecchakam ..
and swiftly hurled Barbarīka to the ground as he wished.
1.4.61.61
tato naditvā cātīva pādaghātamamuṃcata .. 1.2.63.30 ..
Then, having roared loudly, she dealt a kick with her feet.
1.4.61.62
pādau ca vīraḥ saṃgṛhya cikṣepa bhuvi līlayā ..
Grabbing her two feet, the hero tossed her onto the ground with ease.
1.4.61.63
tataḥ punaḥ samutthāya dhāvaṃtīṃ tāṃ nigṛhya saḥ .. .. 31 ..
Rising again and seizing her as she ran,
1.4.61.64
muṣṭinā pātayitvaiva daṃtānkaṃṭhamapīḍayat ..
he knocked out her teeth with his fist and squeezed her throat;
1.4.61.65
klinnaṃ vāsa ivāpīḍya prāṇānatyājayaddrutam .. 32 ..
wringing her out like a wet garment, he quickly deprived her of life.
1.4.61.66
evaṃ sīkottarasthāne smaśānaikapado dbhavā ..
Thus, in the place north of Sīkā, born in the cremation ground of the single-footed,
1.4.61.67
śākinīnāmadhīśā sā barbarīkeṇa sūditā .. 33 ..
that ruler of the śākinīs was slain by Barbarīka.
1.4.61.68
hatvā tāṃ cāpi cikṣepa pratīcyāmeva līlayā ..
Having killed her, he effortlessly hurled her into the western quarter.
1.4.61.69
duhadruhākhyamadyāpi tatra grāmaṃ sma vartate .. 34 ..
Even today, a village named Duhadruhā exists there.
1.4.61.70
tatastathaiva saṃtasthau barbarīko'bhirakṣaṇe ..
Then Barbarīka remained right there for protection.
1.4.61.71
tataścaturthe yāme ca prāptaḥ kṣapaṇako'dbhutaḥ .. 35 ..
Then, in the fourth watch of the night, a wondrous kṣapaṇaka arrived,
1.4.61.72
muṃḍī nagno mayūrāṇāṃ picchadhārī mahāvrataḥ ..
shaven-headed, naked, bearing peacock feathers, observing a great vow.
1.4.61.73
provāca cedaṃ vacanaṃ hāhā kaṣṭamatīva bhoḥ .. 36 ..
And he spoke these words: "Alas, alas, how dreadful, sir!
1.4.61.74
ahiṃsā paramo dharmastadagnirjvālyate kutaḥ ..
Non-violence is the highest duty; why then is this fire kindled?
1.4.61.75
hūyamāne yato vahnau sūkṣmajīvavadho mahān .. 37 ..
For when offerings are made into the fire, a great slaughter of tiny creatures occurs."
1.4.61.76
śrutvedaṃ vacanaṃ tasya barbarīko'bravītsmayan ..
Hearing these words of his, Barbarīka smiled and said:
1.4.61.77
vadane sarvadevānāṃ hūyamāne sma pāvake .. 38 ..
"When the fire, the mouth of all the gods, is being offered into,
1.4.61.78
anṛtaṃ bhāṣase pāpa śikṣāyogyo'si durmate ..
you speak a lie, you sinner! You deserve punishment, evil-minded one!"
1.4.61.79
ityuktvā sahasotpatya kakṣāmadhye sthiro'sya ca .. 39 ..
Having said this, he suddenly sprang up, stood firmly upon his flank,
1.4.61.80
dantānmuṣṭiprahāraiśca samāhatyābhyapātayat ..
and striking his teeth with blows of his fist, knocked them out.
1.4.61.81
rudhirāvilavaktraṃ taṃ mumoca patitaṃ bhuvi .. 1.2.63.40 ..
Leaving him fallen to the ground with his face covered in blood, he let him go.
1.4.61.82
sa kṣaṇāccetanāṃ prāpya ghoradaityavapurdharaḥ ..
Regaining consciousness in an instant, assuming the form of a dreadful Daitya,
1.4.61.83
bhayādbhaimeḥ pradudrāva guhāvivaramāviśat .. 41 ..
he fled in fear from the descendant of Bhīma and entered the opening of a cave.
1.4.61.84
bahuprabheti nagarī ṣaṣṭiyojanamāyatā ..
There was a city named Bahuprabhā, sixty yojanas in extent;
1.4.61.85
tasyāṃ viveśa sahasā taṃ cānu barbarīkakaḥ .. 42 ..
he entered it suddenly, and Barbarīka followed after him.
1.4.61.86
barbarīkaṃ tato dṛṣṭvā nādo'bhūcca palāśinām ..
Then, seeing Barbarīka, a roar arose among the demons:
1.4.61.87
dhāvadhvaṃ hanyatāmeṣa chidyatāṃ bhidyatāmiti .. 43 ..
"Run! Let him be slain! Let him be cut down! Let him be torn apart!"
1.4.61.88
tacchrutvā daityavīrāṇāṃ koṭayo nava bhīṣaṇāḥ ..
Hearing that, ninety million ferocious heroic Daityas,
1.4.61.89
nānāyudhadharā vīraṃ barbarīkamupādravan .. 44 ..
bearing various weapons, rushed against the heroic Barbarīka.
1.4.61.90
dṛṣṭvā tānkoṭiśo daityānkruddho bhīmātmajātmajaḥ ..
Seeing those Daityas by the tens of millions, the son of Bhīma's son grew enraged;
1.4.61.91
nimīlya sahasā netre teṣāṃ madhyamadhāvata .. 45 ..
suddenly shutting his eyes, he charged into their midst.
1.4.61.92
pādaghātaistataḥ kāṃścidbhujāghātaistathāparān ..
Then, some with kicks of his feet, others with blows of his arms,
1.4.61.93
hṛdayasyābhighātaiśca kṣaṇānninye yamakṣayam .. 46 ..
and [others] with strikes to the chest, he dispatched to the realm of Yama in an instant.
1.4.61.94
yathā nalavanaṃ krruddhaḥ kuryādbhūmisamaṃ karī ..
Just as an enraged elephant levels a reed thicket to the ground,
1.4.61.95
navakoṭīstathā jaghne saha tena palāśinā .. 47 ..
so he slew the ninety millions together with that demon.
1.4.61.96
tato nāgāḥ samāgamya vāsukipramukhāstadā ..
Then the snakes, headed by Vāsuki, assembled,
1.4.61.97
tuṣṭuburvividhairvākyairūcuḥ suhṛdayaṃ ca te .. 48 ..
praised [him] with various words, and said to Suhṛdaya:
1.4.61.98
nāgānāṃ paramaṃ kṛtyaṃ kṛtaṃ te bhaiminaṃdana ..
"The highest service to the snakes has been done by you, son of Bhīma['s lineage],
1.4.61.99
palāśīnāma daityoyaṃ nīto yatsānugo yamam .. .. 49 ..
in that this Daitya named Palāśin has been sent, along with his followers, to Yama.
1.4.61.100
anena hi vayaṃ vīra sānugena durātmanā ..
For by this wicked one and his followers, O hero,
1.4.61.101
pīḍitā vividhopāyaiḥ pātālādapyadhaḥ kṛtāḥ .. 1.2.63.50 ..
we were tormented by various means and cast even lower than Pātāla.
1.4.61.102
varaṃ vṛṇīṣva tvaṃ tasmānnāgebhyo'bhimataṃ param ..
Therefore, choose an supreme, desired boon from the snakes;
1.4.61.103
varadāḥ sarva eva sma vayaṃ tubhyaṃ sutoṣitāḥ .. 51 ..
all of us, greatly delighted, are grantors of boons to you."
1.4.61.104
.. suhṛdaya uvāca .. ..
Suhṛdaya said:
1.4.61.105
yadi deyo varo mahyaṃ tadenaṃ pravṛṇomyaham ..
"If a boon is to be given to me, then I choose this:
1.4.61.106
sarvavighnavinirmukto vijayaḥ siddhimāpnuyāt .. 52 ..
may Vijaya, freed from all obstacles, attain success."
1.4.61.107
tatastatheti taṃ procuḥ prahṛṣṭā vāyubhojanāḥ ..
Then the serpents, highly delighted, said to him, "So be it!"
1.4.61.108
sa ca tebhyaḥ purīṃ dattvā nivṛtto nāgapūjitaḥ .. 53 ..
And he, having given that city to them, departed, revered by the serpents.
1.4.61.109
vivarasya ca madhyena samāgacchanmahāprabham ..
And as he was going along through the cave, he saw a liṅga
1.4.61.110
sarvaratnamayaṃ liṃgaṃ sthitaṃ kalpataroradhaḥ .. 54 ..
of great radiance, made entirely of jewels, situated beneath a wish-fulfilling tree,
1.4.61.111
arcyamānaṃ suvahnībhirnāgakanyābhiraikṣata ..
being worshipped by excellent, luminous snake maidens.
1.4.61.112
tato'sau vismayāviṣṭo nāgakanyā hyapṛcchata .. 55 ..
Then, filled with astonishment, he asked the snake maidens:
1.4.61.113
kenedaṃ sthāpitaṃ liṃgaṃ sūryavaiśvānaraprabham ..
"By whom was this liṅga, radiant as the sun and fire, installed?
1.4.61.114
liṃgādapi caturdikṣu mārgāśceme tu kīdṛśāḥ .. 56 ..
And of what kind are these paths leading in the four directions from the liṅga?"
1.4.61.115
iti vīravacaḥ śrutvā bṛhatkaṭipayodharā ..
Hearing these words of the hero, one [of them], having large hips and breasts,
1.4.61.116
savrīḍaṃ sasmitāpāṃganirmokṣamidamabravīt .. 57 ..
bashfully, casting smiling side-glances, said this:
1.4.61.117
sarvapannagarājena śeṣeṇa sumahātmanā ..
"By the king of all serpents, the great-souled Śeṣa,
1.4.61.118
tapa staptvā mahāliṃgamidamatra pratiṣṭhitam .. 58 ..
having performed austerity, this great liṅga was installed here.
1.4.61.119
darśanātsparśanāddhyānādarcanātsarvasiddhidam ..
It grants all perfections through seeing, touching, meditating, and worshipping [it].
1.4.61.120
liṃgātpūrveṇa mārgoyaṃ yāti śrīparvataṃ bhuvi .. 59 ..
To the east of the liṅga, this path goes to Śrīparvata on earth;
1.4.61.121
elāpatreṇa vihito nāgānāṃ tatra prāptaye ..
it was made by Elāpatra for the serpents to reach that place.
1.4.61.122
dakṣiṇena ca mārgo'yaṃ yāti śūrpārakaṃ bhuvi ..1.2.63.60..
And to the south, this path goes to Śūrpāraka on earth;
1.4.61.123
karkoṭakena nāgena kṛto'yaṃ tatra prāptaye ..
it was made by the snake Karkoṭaka to reach that place.
1.4.61.124
paścimena ca mārgo'yaṃ prabhāsaṃ yāti suprabham ..61..
And to the west, this path goes to the splendid Prabhāsa;
1.4.61.125
airāvatena vihito nāgānāṃ gamanāya ca ..
it was made by Airāvata for the passage of the serpents.
1.4.61.126
uttareṇa ca mārgoyaṃ yena yātuṃ bhavānsthitaḥ..62..
And to the north is this path by which you are preparing to go;
1.4.61.127
guptakṣetre siddhaliṃgaṃ yāti śaktiguhā''kṛtaḥ ..
fashioned as a cave of Śakti, it goes to the Siddhaliṅga in the Guptakṣetra.
1.4.61.128
vihitastakṣakeṇāsau yātuṃ tatra mahātmanā ..63..
It was made by the great-souled Takṣaka to go there.
1.4.61.129
itīdaṃ varṇitaṃ vīra vijñaptiḥ śrūyatāṃ mama..
Thus has this been described, O hero. Now hear my request:
1.4.61.130
ko bhavānadhunaiveto daityapṛṣṭha gato'bhavat ..
Who are you, who just now went from here pursuing the Daitya?
1.4.61.131
adhunaiva tathaikākī samāyāto'tra no vada ..64..
And tell us, how have you returned here just now all alone?
1.4.61.132
vayaṃ ca sarvāste dāsyastvāṃ patiṃ pravṛṇīmahe ..
And all of us are your maidservants; we choose you as our husband."
1.4.61.133
asmābhiḥ sahitaḥ krīḍa vividhāsvatra bhūmiṣu .. 65 ..
Sport with us in these diverse lands.”
1.4.61.134
.. barbarīka uvāca .. ..
Barbarīka said:
1.4.61.135
ahaṃ kurukulotpannaḥ pāṃḍuputrasya pautrakaḥ ..
“I was born in the Kuru lineage, the grandson of the son of Pāṇḍu,
1.4.61.136
barbarīka iti khyātastaṃ daityaṃ haṃtumāgataḥ .. 66 ..
renowned as Barbarīka, and came [here] to kill that Daitya.
1.4.61.137
sa ca daityo hataḥ pāpaḥ punaryāsye mahītalam ..
That wicked Daitya has been slain; I will return to the earth’s surface.
1.4.61.138
bhavatībhiśca me nāsti kṛtyaṃ bhobhoḥ kathaṃcana .. 67 ..
And I have no business whatsoever with you, ladies,
1.4.61.139
brahmacārivrataṃ yasmādahaṃ satatamāsthitaḥ ..
for I have constantly undertaken the vow of a celibate student.”
1.4.61.140
ityuktvābhyarcya talliṃgaṃ praṇipatya ca daṇḍavat .. 68 ..
Having spoken thus, worshipped that liṅga, and bowed down prostrate like a stick,
1.4.61.141
ūrdhvamācakrame vīraḥ kātaraṃ tābhirīkṣitaḥ..
the hero stepped upward, watched anxiously by them.
1.4.61.142
tato bahiḥ samāgatya saprakāśaṃ mukhaṃ tadā ..69..
Then, having emerged outside, with a radiant face at that time,
1.4.61.143
praharṣeṇaiva pūrvasyā vijayaṃ dadṛśe diśaḥ ..
he saw Vijaya with great joy in the eastern direction.
1.4.61.144
tasminkāle ca vijayaḥ karma sarvaṃ samāptavān .. 1.2.63.70 ..
And at that time, Vijaya had completed the entire rite.
1.4.61.145
kāṃtyā sūryasamābhāsa ūrdhvamācakrame kṣaṇāt ..
Shining like the sun in splendor, he mounted upward in an instant.
1.4.61.146
tato viyadgataṃ devaiḥ puṣpavarṣamabhūnmahat .. 71 ..
Then a great shower of flowers fell from the sky, [rained down] by the gods.
1.4.61.147
jagurgaṃdharvamukhyāśca nanṛtuścāpsarogaṇāḥ ..
Chief Gandharvas sang, and hosts of apsarases danced.
1.4.61.148
vijayo barbarīkaṃ ca tato vacanamabravīt .. 72 ..
Vijaya then spoke [these] words to Barbarīka:
1.4.61.149
tava prasādādvīreśa siddhiḥ prāptā mayātulā ..
“By your grace, O lord of heroes, I have attained incomparable perfection.
1.4.61.150
ciraṃ jīva ciraṃ naṃda ciraṃ vasa ciraṃ jaya .. 73 ..
Live long! Rejoice long! Dwell long! Be victorious long!
1.4.61.151
ata eva hi sādhṛnāṃ saṃgamicchaṃti sādhavaḥ ..
For this very reason good people desire the company of the good,
1.4.61.152
auṣadhaṃ sarvadoṣāṇāṃ bhavetsatyaṃ gamo yataḥ .. 74 ..
since association with the virtuous becomes a medicine for all faults.
1.4.61.153
tvaṃ ca homasthitaṃ bhasma siṃdūrasadṛśaprabham ..
And you, take this ash lying in the sacrificial fire, shining like vermilion,
1.4.61.154
niḥśalyaṃ savivarakaṃ pūryamāṇaṃ gṛhāṇa ca .. 75 ..
free from defect, filling every opening.
1.4.61.155
akṣayyametatsaṃgrāme prathamaṃ te pramuṃcataḥ ..
It is inexhaustible; when released by you first in battle,
1.4.61.156
śatrūṇāṃ sthānakaṃ mṛtyordehaṃ dhvastaṃ kariṣyati .. 76 ..
it will destroy the enemies’ bodies, turning them into the abode of death.
1.4.61.157
evaṃ sukhena vijayaḥ śatrūṇāṃ te bhaviṣyati .. 77 ..
Thus your victory over enemies will come easily.”
1.4.61.158
.. barbarīka uvāca .. ..
Barbarīka said:
1.4.61.159
upakuryānnirākāṃkṣo yaḥ sa sādhuritīryate ..
“He who renders assistance without expectation is called good;
1.4.61.160
sākāṃkṣamupakuryādyaḥ sādhutve tasya ko guṇaḥ .. 78 ..
he who renders assistance with expectations—what virtue is there in his goodness?
1.4.61.161
taddehi bhasma cānyasmai kenāpyartho na me'ṇvapi ..
Therefore give the ash to someone else; I have no need for anything whatsoever, even the least.
1.4.61.162
prasādasumukhāṃ dṛṣṭiṃ vinā nānyadvṛṇomi te .. 79 ..
Apart from your gracious and favorable gaze, I choose nothing else.”
1.4.61.163
.. devā ūcuḥ .. ..
The gods said:
1.4.61.164
kurūṇāṃ pāṃḍavānāṃ ca bhaviṣyati mahānraṇaḥ ..
“A great war will take place between the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas.
1.4.61.165
tato bhūmisthitaṃ bhasma prāpsyaṃti yadi kauravāḥ .. 1.2.63.80 ..
If the Kauravas obtain the ash that lies on the ground,
1.4.61.166
mahānanartho bhavitā pāṃḍavānāṃ tataḥ sphuṭam ..
great disaster will clearly befall the Pāṇḍavas.
1.4.61.167
tasmādgṛhāṇa tvaṃ bhasma sopi cakre tatho vacaḥ .. 81 ..
Therefore, take the ash!” He too complied with their words.
1.4.61.168
devībhiḥ sahitā devāḥ saṃmānya vijayaṃ ca te ..
The gods together with the goddesses honored Vijaya,
1.4.61.169
siddhaiśvaryaṃ dadustasmai siddhaseneti nāma ca .. 82 ..
gave him the lordship of perfected beings, and the name Siddhasena.
1.4.61.170
evaṃ sa vijayo vipraḥ siddhiṃ lebhe sudurlabhām ..
Thus that brahmin Vijaya attained very rare perfection,
1.4.61.171
barbarīkaśca kṛtvaitaddevībhaktirato'vasat .. 83 .. ..
and Barbarīka, having done this, lived devoted to the worship of the Goddess.
1.4.61.172
iti śrīskānde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ prathame māheśvarakhaṇḍe kaumārikākhaṃḍe kāryasiddhivarṇanaṃnāma triṣaṣṭitamo'dhyāyaḥ .. 63 ..
Thus ends the sixty-third chapter, named ‘Description of the Accomplishment of the Task’, in the Kaumārikākhaṇḍa of the first section, the Māheśvarakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa of eighty-one thousand verses.
