Skandapurana 16.112

Īśvara said: / Then one should go, O great goddess, to the supreme Lakṣmaṇeśvara, / situated thirty bow-lengths to the east of Rāmeśa.

It was installed indeed by Lakṣmaṇa when he had gone there on pilgrimage; / that liṅga, worshipped by the gods, removes great sin, O goddess.

Whoever worships it with devotion, with dances, songs, musical instruments, and the like, / with oblations and recitations, steady in concentration, goes to the supreme state.

Food, water, and gold should be given there to a twice-born, / having worshipped the god of the gods of gods duly with fragrant paste, flowers, and the like.

On the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight of Māgha, there is special merit in worship there; / ritual ablution, gifting, and recitation there become the cause of imperishable [merit].

Thus ends the one hundred and twelfth chapter, named 'Description of the Māhātmya of Lakṣmaṇeśvara in the Māhātmya of the Sacred Field of Rāmeśvara', in the first [part], the Māhātmya of the Sacred Field of Prabhāsa, in the seventh [section], the Prabhāsakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, a compendium of eighty-one thousand [verses].
