īśvara uvāca..
tato gacchenmahādevi tatpūrve vimaleśvaram..
gauryāḥ pūrvaṃ samīpasthaṃ nātidūre vyavasthitam..1..
Īśvara said: / Then one should go, O great goddess, to Vimaleśvara to the east of that, / situated near the east of Gaurī, not very far away, // 1

gurornairṛtyadigbhāge sthitaṃ pāpapraṇāśanam..
api kṛtvā mahāpāpaṃ nārī vā puruṣo'pi vā .. 2 ..
standing in the south-western quarter from Guru, destroying sins. / Even if having committed a great sin, a woman or a man, // 2

kṣayābhibhūtadeho vā taṃ samabhyarcya bhaktitaḥ ..
sarvaduḥkhāntago bhūtvā nirmalaṃ padamāpnuyāt .. 3 ..
or one whose body is overwhelmed by consumption, by worshipping it with devotion, / puts an end to all sorrows and attains the stainless state. // 3
16.55.4
gaṃdharvasenā yatraiva vimalā'bhūtkṣayā nvitā ..
vimaleśvaranāmnā vai talliṃgaṃ prathitaṃ kṣitau .. 4 ..
Where Gandharvasenā, afflicted by consumption, became spotless, / that liṅga became renowned on earth by the name Vimaleśvara. // 4

iti te kathitaṃ sarvaṃ vimaleśvarasūcakam ..
māhātmyaṃ sarvapāpaghnaṃ turīyaṃ bhavasundari .. 5 ..
Thus all that indicates Vimaleśvara has been told to you, / the fourth māhātmya destroying all sins, O beauty of the world! // 5

iti śrīskāṃde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ saptame prabhāsakhaṃḍe prathame prabhāsakṣetramāhātmye vimaleśvaramāhātmyavarṇanaṃnāma pañcapañcāśo'dhyāyaḥ .. 55 ..
Thus ends the fifty-fifth chapter, entitled 'Description of the Māhātmya of Vimaleśvara', in the first [part], the Prabhāsakṣetramāhātmya, in the seventh section, the Prabhāsakhaṇḍa, of the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, an eighty-one-thousand-verse compendium. // 55
