Skandapurana 16.62

Īśvara said: / Next, O great goddess, one should go to the third, Catvarapriyā, / situated ten bow-lengths to the east of Lalitā,

the messenger of the sacred field, the terribly fierce Śakti of Rudra, endowed with great splendor, / dispatched by me into the midst of the sacred field for the sake of its protection.

Joined by ten million spirits, having a huge body, possessing great splendor, / in dilapidated houses, in gardens, in temples, watchtowers, and roads,

and at all crossroads, residing in the middle of the sacred field, the faithful goddess / wanders at night surrounded by ten million spirits.

Whatever woman or man there on the Great Ninth lunar day / worships the auspicious goddess according to the rules with various ritual offerings,

the pleased goddess will grant all of their desires. / A meal should be given there to a married couple by those who wish for the fruit of the pilgrimage.

Thus has been proclaimed in brief the sin-destroying māhātmya / of the third messenger of the sacred field, which produces sovereignty when heard.

Thus ends the sixty-second chapter, titled 'Description of the Māhātmya of Catvarādevī', in the first [part], the Prabhāsakṣetramāhātmya, of the seventh [section], the Prabhāsakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skandapurāṇa consisting of eighty-one thousand verses.
