16.65.1
.. īśvara uvāca .. ..
tato gacchenmahādevi liṃgaṃ vai vāḍaveśvaram ..
lakṣmīśāduttare bhāge viśālākṣyāśca dakṣiṇe .. 1 ..
Īśvara said:
Then one should go, O great goddess, to the liṅga indeed called Vāḍaveśvara,
to the north of Lakṣmīśa and to the south of Viśālākṣī,
16.65.2
sthitaṃ mahāprabhāvaṃ hi vāḍavena pratiṣṭhitam..
kṛtasmaro yadā dagdhaḥ parvato vāḍavāgninā .. 2 ..
which is situated there, possessed of great power, established by Vāḍava.
When the Kṛtasmara mountain was burnt by the submarine fire,
16.65.3
samīkṛtyākhilaṃ sthānaṃ tena liṃgaṃ pratiṣṭhitam ..
pūjayettaṃ vidhānena daśa saṃsnāpya śaṃkaram .. 3 ..
having leveled the entire place, he established that liṅga.
One should worship that Śaṃkara according to rule after bathing him ten times.
16.65.4
dadhi dadyācca vai tatra brāhmaṇe vedapārage.
so'gnilokamavāpnoti samyagyātrāphalaṃ labhet .. 4 ..
And one should give curds there to a brahmin who has mastered the Vedas.
He attains the world of Agni and receives the full fruit of the pilgrimage.
16.65.65
iti śrīskāṃde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ saptame prabhāsakhaṇḍe prathame prabhāsakṣetramāhātmye vāḍaveśvaramāhātmyavarṇanaṃnāma pañcaṣaṣṭitamo'dhyāyaḥ ..65 ..
Thus ends the sixty-fifth chapter, named 'Description of the Māhātmya of Vāḍaveśvara,' in the first [sub-section], the Prabhāsakṣetramāhātmya, in the seventh [section], the Prabhāsakhaṇḍa, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa of eighty-one thousand verses.
