17.5.1
.. īśvara uvāca .. ..
tato gacchenmahādevi maṃgalātpaścime sthitam ..
gaṃgāsrotastathā liṃgaṃ surārkaṃ ca viśeṣataḥ .. 1 ..
Īśvara said: / Then, O great goddess, one should go to that situated to the west of Maṅgalā: / the current of Gaṅgā, as well as the liṅga, and Surārka in particular. // 1
17.5.2
tāngacchedvidhivaddevi yadi yātrāphalepsutā ..
snātvā piṇḍapradānaṃ ca kuryāttatra yathārthataḥ ..
brāhmaṇebhyastathā deyamannaṃ bhūri sadakṣiṇam .. 2 ..
One should go to them according to rule, O goddess, if one desires the fruit of pilgrimage; / having bathed, one should properly offer rice balls there, / and abundant food with fees should be given to brahmins. // 2
17.5.3
iti te kathitaṃ mayā priye kalipāpaughavināśanaṃ śubham ..
nikhilaṃ tīrthamahodayodayaṃ paṭhitaṃ sadvinihaṃti pāpasaṃhatim .. 3 ..
Thus has this auspicious [teaching] been spoken by me to you, O beloved, which destroys the mass of sins of the Kali age; / reciting this, the complete rise of the glory of the sacred ford destroys the multitude of sins. // 3
17.5.4
idaṃ na deyaṃ durbuddheḥ sutarāṃ pāpanāśanam ..
śrotavyaṃ vidhinā tadvadbhaviṣyoktavidhānataḥ .. 4 ..
This, supremely destructive of sins, should not be given to one of wicked intellect; / it should be heard according to rule, in accordance with the injunction stated in the Bhaviṣya [Purāṇa]. // 4

iti śrīskānde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ saptame prabhāsakhaṃḍe prathame prabhāsakṣetramāhātmye gaṃgeśvaramāhātmyavarṇanaṃnāma paṃcamo'dhyāyaḥ .. 5 ..
Thus ends the fifth chapter, named 'Description of the Glory of Gaṅgeśvara,' in the Prabhāsakṣetramāhātmya, in the first [sub-section of] Prabhāsakhaṇḍa, in the seventh part of the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa consisting of eighty-one thousand verses. // 5
