Therefore, what provision is to be made here? How is it known?"

ityuktavaṃtaṃ te procurdevā bhagnādhikāriṇaḥ .. 39 ..
To him who had spoken thus, the gods, deprived of their offices, said: // 39
2.2.24.81
.. devā ūcuḥ .. ..
The gods said:

na jānīmo vayamapi tadasmākaṃ gururguruḥ ..
"Even we do not know that. Our teacher is the preceptor [Bṛhaspati];
2.2.24.83
idānīṃ na vaśe'smākaṃ sa hi svargaparo hitaḥ .. 2.2.24.40 ..
he is not under our control now, for he is devoted to heaven and its welfare." // 40
2.2.24.84
.. padmanidhiruvāca .. ..
Padmanidhi said:
2.2.24.85
svāminvidheranujñānādāgato'smi tvayā saha ..
"Master, by the instruction of Brahmā, I have come with you.
2.2.24.86
kartavyaṃ kiṃ mayā cātra kiṃ vā vastu pratīkṣyate .. 41 ..
What must be done by me here, or what material is awaited?" // 41
2.2.24.87
.. jaiminiruvāca .. ..
Jaimini said:
2.2.24.88
iti hyālapyamānānāṃ nāradaḥ purataḥ sthitaḥ ..
As they were conversing thus, Nārada stood before them,

sent previously by Brahmā, expert in all sacred scriptures. // 42

sarvasaṃbhāravastūni yathāśāstraṃ mune kuru ..
"O sage, prepare all the materials of provision according to the scriptures;
2.2.24.91
saṃpādayiṣyati tava śāsanātpadmako nidhiḥ .. 43 ..
the treasure Padmaka will provide them at your command." // 43
2.2.24.92
taṃ dṛṣṭvā te mudā yuktā uttasthurbrahmaṇaḥ sutam ..
Seeing him, the son of Brahmā, filled with joy, they stood up;
2.2.24.93
ṣaḍarghyapūjayā tasya pūjāṃ cakre nṛpottamaḥ .. 44 ..
the best of kings worshipped him with the worship of the sixfold offering. // 44
2.2.24.94
praṇemuste'pi taṃ devā manuṣyākāradhāriṇaḥ ..
Those gods bearing human form also bowed down to him.
2.2.24.95
ūce tamiṃdradyumno'pi pratiṣṭhāvidhivastuni .. .. 45 ..
Indradyumna too spoke to him concerning the items for the consecration ritual: // 45
2.2.24.96
nāhaṃ vedmi muniśreṣṭha cirāttyaktaḥ purodhasā ..
"I do not know, O best of sages, having long been abandoned by my family priest;
2.2.24.97
ādeśaya kramādbrahmansaṃpādyaṃ yadyadeva hi .. 46 ..
direct me in proper order, O brahmin, whatever is to be procured." // 46
2.2.24.98
iti śrīskāṃde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ dvitīye vaiṣṇavakhaṇḍe puruṣottamakṣetramāhātmye jaiminiṛṣisaṃvāde caturviṃśo'dhyāyaḥ .. 24 ..
Thus ends the twenty-fourth chapter in the conversation of the sage Jaimini, in the Glorious Field of Puruṣottama, in the second Vaiṣṇava Section of the Skanda Mahāpurāṇa consisting of eighty-one thousand verses. // 24
