hands folded in reverence, and considering himself fulfilled, the Śabara said:
2.2.8.74

the Śabara, O best of the twice-born, swiftly came to his hermitage.

did not feel the pains arising from hunger, thirst, and weariness.
2.2.8.83

reached it in the evening, O twice-born, the foremost of Vaiṣṇavas.
2.2.8.87
tatrātithimanuprāptaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ śabarottamaḥ ..
There, to the guest who had arrived, the brahmin, the best of Śabaras

honored him with various arrangements of food to chew and to eat.
2.2.8.89
tato'bhitṛptastaddattairupacārairnṛpocitaiḥ ..
Then, fully satisfied by the royal offerings presented by him,
2.2.8.90
vismayaṃ paramaṃ lebhe śabarasya sudurlabhaiḥ .. 43 ..
he felt great astonishment at what was exceedingly difficult to obtain for a Śabara:
2.2.8.91
śabaro'yaṃ nivasati viṣame kānanāṃtare ..
"This Śabara dwells in the middle of a rugged forest,
2.2.8.92
āraṇyakairvarttamānaḥ kathamasya gṛhāṃtare .. 44 ..
living on forest produce. How within his house
2.2.8.93
rājārhabhakṣyabhojyāni sulabhānyadbhutaṃ mahat ..
are foods fit for a king easily available? This is a great wonder!"
2.2.8.94
iti vismayamāpannaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ śabarastadā .. 45 ..
To the brahmin who had thus fallen into wonder, the Śabara then
2.2.8.95
provāca snigdhavacasā vinayāvanato bhṛśam .. 46 ..
spoke with affectionate words, bowing low in deep humility:
2.2.8.96
.. śabara uvāca .. ..

2.2.8.98
āraṇyakānāṃ bhavane nāgarāṇāṃ kutaḥ sukham .. 47 ..
Whence can there be comfort for city dwellers in the house of forest dwellers?
2.2.8.99
ajñātā nāgarī vṛttiḥ śabaraistu viśeṣataḥ ..

indradyumno narapatiḥ sārvabhaumaḥ pratāpavān .. 49 ..
King Indradyumna is an emperor of great majesty.
2.2.8.103
tvayi tuṣṭe sa saṃtuṣṭo dhruvaṃ vipra bhaviṣyati ..

When the forest dweller had spoken thus, that twice-born man, greatly pleased,
2.2.8.105
uvāca śabaraṃ prītyā vinayādbhutavādinam .. 2.2.8.50 ..
spoke with affection to the Śabara, who spoke with such wondrous humility:
2.2.8.106
.. vidyāpatiruvāca .. ..
Vidyāpati said:
2.2.8.107
sādho madupacārāya hṛtānyetāni yāni te ..
"O virtuous one, these things brought by you for my entertainment
2.2.8.108
vastunyamānuṣāṇīha yānyadṛṣṭāni rājabhiḥ .. 51 ..
are superhuman, unseen here even by kings.
2.2.8.109
citrametaddivyavastusaṃcayaḥ śabarālaye ..
It is marvelous: such an accumulation of divine items in the house of a Śabara!
2.2.8.110
etatkhyātuṃ kautukaṃ me sādho saṃvarddhate mahat .. 52 ..
My curiosity to have this explained grows very great, O virtuous one."
2.2.8.111
.. śabara uvāca .. ..
The Śabara said:
2.2.8.112
etatprakāśituṃ vipra matirnotsahate mama ..
"O brahmin, my mind is not inclined to disclose this.
2.2.8.113
tathāpi te dvijaśreṣṭhā'tithibhaktyā vadāmyaham .. 53 ..
Even so, O best of the twice-born, out of devotion to a guest, I shall tell you.
2.2.8.114
śakrādayo devagaṇāḥ samāyāntyanvahaṃ dvija ..
The hosts of gods, led by Śakra, arrive every day, O twice-born,
2.2.8.115
divyopacārānādāya pūjanāya jagatpateḥ .. 54 ..
bringing divine offerings to worship the Lord of the World.
2.2.8.116
pūjayitvā jagannāthaṃ stutvā natvā ca bhaktitaḥ ..
Having worshipped Jagannātha, having praised and bowed down to him with devotion,
2.2.8.117
gītaśavāditranṛtyaiśca saṃtoṣya puruṣottamam .. 55 ..
and having delighted Puruṣottama with songs, musical instruments, and dances,
2.2.8.118
punaḥ prayāṃti satataṃ tridivaṃ surasattamāḥ ..
the foremost of the gods always return to heaven.
2.2.8.119
divyānyetāni vastūni nirmālyāni jagatpateḥ .. 56 ..
These divine articles are the nirmālya of the Lord of the World;
2.2.8.120
dattāni tubhyaṃ viduṣe kathaṃ vismayate bhavān ..
they have been given to you, a learned man. Why do you marvel?
2.2.8.121
viṣṇornirmālyabhogena kṣīṇarogajarā vayam .. 57 ..
By partaking of Viṣṇu's nirmālya, we are free from disease and old age;
2.2.8.122
saputrabāṃdhavāḥ sarve nivasāmo'yutāyuṣaḥ ..
with our sons and relatives, we all live having a lifespan of ten thousand years.
2.2.8.123
viṣṇunirmālyabhogena kṣīyate pāpasaṃhatiḥ .. 58 ..
By partaking of Viṣṇu's nirmālya, the heap of sins is destroyed;
2.2.8.124
na taccitraṃ dvijaśreṣṭha yena syānmuktibhājanam ..
it is no wonder, O best of the twice-born, that one may become a recipient of liberation."
2.2.8.125
śrutvaitaddurlabhaṃ karma brāhmaṇo romaharṣaṇaḥ .. 59 ..
Hearing of this rare deed, the brahmin, his hair standing on end,
2.2.8.126
ānaṃdāśruviluptākṣaḥ svaṃ kṛtārthamamanyata ..
his eyes filled with tears of joy, considered himself fulfilled:
2.2.8.127
