prāpya sītāsaro viprāḥ snātveṣṭvā ca tadaṃtike .. 3.1.11.70 ..
Having reached Sītāsaras, O brahmins, having bathed and sacrificed near it,
3.1.11.149
prayayau svapurīṃ bhūyo brahmahatyāvimocitaḥ ..
he returned again to his own city, freed from the sin of killing a brahmin.
3.1.11.150
evaṃ prabhāvaṃ tattīrthaṃ sītāyāḥ kuṇḍamuttamam .. 71 ..
Such is the power of that excellent sacred ford, Sītā’s pool.
3.1.11.151
rāghavapratyayārthaṃ hi praviśya hutavāhanam ..
Indeed, having entered the fire to produce conviction in the descendant of Raghu [Rāma],
3.1.11.152
saṃnidhau sarvadevānāṃ maithilī janakātmajā .. 72 ..
Maithilī, the daughter of Janaka, in the presence of all the gods,
3.1.11.153
vinirgatā punarvahneḥ sthitā sarvāṃgaśobhanā ..
emerged once more from the fire, standing radiant in all her limbs,
3.1.11.154
nirmame lokarakṣārthaṃ svanāmnā tīrthamuttamam .. 73 ..
and fashioned for the protection of the worlds an excellent sacred ford under her own name.
3.1.11.155
tatra sasnau svayaṃ sītā tena sītāsaraḥ smṛtam ..
Sītā bathed there herself; therefore it is remembered as Sītāsaras.
3.1.11.156
tatra yo mānavaḥ snāti sarvānkāmām̐llabheta saḥ .. 74 ..
Whatever man bathes there, he shall obtain all desires.
3.1.11.157
tasminnupaspṛśya naro dvijeṃdrā dattvā ca dānāni pṛthagvidhāni ..
Having bathed in it, O best of brahmins, having given various gifts,
3.1.11.158
kṛtvā ca yajñānbahudakṣiṇābhirlokaṃ prayāyātparameśvarasya .. 75 ..
and having performed sacrifices with abundant sacrificial fees, a man will go to the world of the Supreme Lord.
3.1.11.159
yuṣmākamevaṃ prathitaṃ munīṃdrāḥ sītāsaro vaibhavametaduktam ..
Thus has this majesty of Sītāsaras been proclaimed and recounted to you, O best of sages;
3.1.11.160
śṛṇvanpaṭhanvai tadihaiva bhogānbhuktvā paratrāpi sukhaṃ labheta .. 76..
hearing or reading it, one enjoys pleasures here in this world and finds happiness in the next world as well.
3.1.11.161
iti śrīskāṃde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ tṛtīyebrahmakhaṇḍe setumāhātmye sītāsaraḥpraśaṃsāyāmiṃdrabrahmahatyāvimokṣaṇanāmaikādaśo'dhyāyaḥ .. 11 ..
Thus ends the eleventh chapter, titled “Release of Indra from the Sin of Brahmin-slaughter in the Praise of Sītāsaras,” in the Setumāhātmya of the third Brahmakhaṇḍa in the glorious Skandapurāṇa, a collection of eighty-one thousand verses.
